One of the classiest of soul singers, he recorded a whole string of incredible ballads besides his most famous song. What a voice! R.I.P., sir.

I was a BIG fan from the get-go.  When a Man Loves a Woman simply opened a floodgate of wonderful songs from the late, great Mr. Sledge.  MC'd a Percy concert about 20 years ago in Toronto.  Percy was a truly nice, decent, down-to-earth gentleman...and a super talent.  Sorry  ...  and condolences to Percy's family, loved ones and friends.  I feel your loss and I'm ever-so-sorry to learn of it. :(

See what I mean when I keep saying that the number of grain's of sand left in the Beach Boys' hour-glass are diminishing?  We gotta take time to 'appreciate' them.

If you care to hear a really good recent PS album, check out Shining thru the Rain from around 2004.   surprisingly good soul  R&B lp for recent times.
