I was just listening to "Airplane" last night and imagining how wonderful it would be to hear it played live alongside the other eras, very open and freeing. I'm sure other factors than Jeff Foskett's ambivalence to it were factors in Love You material never being played, but can't remember what they were, other than the emotional nakedness of the songs and their possible "inappropriateness" to some with input over song selection. How does Brian feel about it (besides The Night Was So Young)? Of course there may not be any more tours so it might be moot.

Brian's played one Love You song live... "The Night Was So Young", at the 2004 London BWPS premieres.

He technically also busted out a bit of "Ding Dang" during the 2000 QVC live show.

He does seriously bring that song up often enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they actually worked it up into a full band performance at some stage. Unlikely, but more likely than hearing "Let's Put Our Hearts Together" or something.

In one of the recent Q&A's...maybe the one here???..Brian kind of gave the impression that he wouldn't mind touring Love You...

I would be at the front of that queue!! I dream of a Love You and unreleased Brian tour. Where he plays Love You in full in the first half and then goes through his best unreleased works in the second (adult/child, paley sessions, SI etc) full big band for some of the adult/child tracks...

Doubtless I will be proved wrong but I would think that the bigger the venue, the less chance there is of Love You songs being played. With Brian, Al and Blondie having at least one support act this summer, I guess that after they have played the hits and new songs there will be limited space in the setlist for rarities. Honkin Down the Highway is maybe the one that has the best chance of being performed...

As for Airplane, I suppose Mike and Bruce might play this one in the U.K. as they will doubtless be digging deep. I won`t be holding my breath though...

How about Let Us Go On This Way with Blondie on lead? That could be really fun.

Speaking to a few members from his band last year, they were most interested in delving into "Love You" but the main concern appeared to be how the songs would go over with the audience. 

I want the whole damn album. >:D

I think Brian and Zooey doing "Let's Put Our Hearts Together" would be great.

If I recall, I believe I saw BW + his band play The Night Was So Young at a Carl Wilson Foundation show way back in 2002 or 2003.

And it was rad.

It would be a phenomena! They should do the whole damn thing, at least once, record and shoot it. Full band treatment, add even some more edge to the rocking ones and wow! Blondie could fill some of the Carl and Dennis' parts. It would be so cool.

I would tend to doubt they'd do the whole "Love You" album when they're ostensibly out there in part to promote the new album. They did randomly bust out the entire PS album in 2013, but that was a bit easier since they do at least three of the songs from the album at most shows, and obviously had done the album in full in the past. It would be interesting to see "Love You" randomly thrown out there. I'd rather just hear some random deep cuts. I don't need to hear "Love is a Woman." A few would be cool to hear, like "Airplane."

As far as the upcoming tour, I think it will all down to how long of a set they do. If they do 30-40 songs, then we might get some cool stuff that isn't common. But we can probably guess at a good hunk of the setlist. There's the "core" hits even Brian always does, then they'll do at least 2-3 cuts off the new album probably. They'll do "Sail on Sailor" and "Wild Honey" with Blondie most likely. That probably amounts to around 20 songs at least right there. I wish they'd let Al actually *pick* a few songs to do. By Al's own admission, and he seems to be fine with it, he doesn't have input into the setlists. He seems to have about the same amount of input as backing band guys, which is that maybe once in awhile he'll throw an idea out that might catch on. I would guess he's behind trying to get "Lookin' at Tomorrow" in the set. But even Al's leads in Brian's shows seem to be mostly Brian's picks or leftover selections from the C50 tour, like "Then I Kissed Her", "California Saga", and "Cottonfields."

... and "Rhonda", of course.

Given that there's an opening artist (in the UK, two), I'd say the setlist will be closer to 30 than 40 (I would dearly love to be proven wrong here) and of those maybe 12-15 are pretty much set in stone. We'll see.

But yes, if a Love You show was announced I'd be there at the front of the queue with a tent and supplies.  ;D

Seeing Brian do The Night Was So Young in Chicago in 2004 is probably the highlight out of all of the BW shows I've been to..actually that entire setlist was amazing!

His music is often complex and funky (difficult to describe, but try listening yourself)
But, to my surprise he revealed himself also as a 'die hard' Brian Wilson fan. In a talkshow he showed his fave lps: Pet Sounds, SMiLE and Love You

I know he's done TNWSY, that's why I mentioned it specifically in the opening comment. The whole album would be too much IMO as well. Perhaps Honking Down the Highway, Solar System, I'll Bet He's Nice, the aforementioned Night, Airplane or even I Wanna Pick You Up, a couple of which interspersed judiciously throughout the set. Foskett seemed to be a major obstacle in the past, and mainstream audience response might be befuddled and indifferent at first but I think they'd get into it eventually. I say do these idiosyncratic ditties before it's too late!
