Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Wrightfan on March 18, 2015, 05:03:55 PM ...Why not just wait until the 50th anniversary next year?
Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: lostbeachboy on March 18, 2015, 06:55:20 PM A 30th anniversary collection...
Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: joshferrell on March 18, 2015, 07:05:23 PM wouldn't it be cool if there will be a vol two next year,,,
Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: HeyJude on March 18, 2015, 09:00:16 PM Total guess: This could also be not so much a reissue, and more just putting something back in print or giving it a new sku with a different MSRP or something.
Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Micha on March 19, 2015, 12:36:06 AM ...Why not just wait until the 50th anniversary next year? ... because there is a film coming out that has scenes in which Pet Sounds sessions are recreated this year? Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Please delete my account on March 19, 2015, 02:57:46 AM Anniversaries are overrated and they're getting out of hand. Celebrate/broadcast/reissue great stuff all the time.

That has to be it. Maybe there'll be a street-friendly issue of The Smile Sessions too - I'd love a book-style version of that, one that's user friendly and has the text is a handlable format. Doe on March 19, 2015, 06:24:24 AM Anniversaries are overrated and they're getting out of hand. Indeedy... but given a few rampant exceptions, the music industry these days is almost entirely in the reissue/anniversary edition business. Getting to be there's 30th anniversary box sets of albums and artists I've never even heard of, much less actually heard. :old Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Lee Marshall on March 19, 2015, 07:59:55 AM  Thank the 'heavens'!!! I need this ever-so-badly. I only have Pet Sounds on vinyl [2 copies plus the extra version added as a bonus to Carl and the Passions]. Then I have it on CD...on CD in stereo...plus a box set of everything I'll ever need regarding any specific sound made by a 'pet' of any description...plus Brian performing it live. So 'lord' NOSE...I can hardly wait.
I seriously DO hope that a bunch of NEW fans find it and LOVE it as much as almost all of us did/do. :hat Not a bad little record. ;) Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Smilin Ed H on March 19, 2015, 10:48:06 AM Anniversaries are overrated and they're getting out of hand. This - and also because they can then triple dip yet again for the 50th anniversary, and get the superfans who already own the original PSS box set to re-purchase it not just once, but two additional times. Yay for Capitol marketing people! Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Dudd on March 19, 2015, 11:29:19 AM (http://i.imgur.com/90ZMEpe.jpg)

Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Shady on March 19, 2015, 11:57:16 AM This reissue makes sense since Love & Mercy will probably get people interested in the PS and Smile sessions.

If that really is the case, you must have looked in the wrong places during that time... Still: Dudd, a GREAT job both visually and conceptually! :) Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Alan Smith on March 20, 2015, 02:30:24 AM Checked out the exterior only (sealed, like) of one of these babies today.
Track listing all the same, the box fonts look a bit sharper, with some really minor changes on the back (eg, updated and repositioned HDCD logo, that kind of tedium). But I'd be curious to know if the stereo mix now includes the extraction "fixes" to WIBN (bridge) and the YSBIM double track vox (as per the MoFi SACD). This could be a bumper year for Pet Sounds cash-ins… sorry, reissues. Sessions, AP's three editions, the Blu-Ray… gonna spend so much time shopping around for these that I won't have time to listen to them! Any chance the 40th anniversary CD/DVD set will get a 9th anniversary reissue? Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: DonnyL on March 20, 2015, 02:07:17 PM ... anyone know if we can purchase the 'Alan Boyd Chatter' disc on it's own yet?

You pretty much have the rest - even the Pet Sounds Sampler from '96! I like it!
Title: Re: Pet Sounds Sessions to be reissued… Post by: Lonely Summer on March 20, 2015, 09:48:08 PM The booklet detailing all the work that went into the original boxset should make for good reading - that is, if it is allowed to tell the real truth about it. Of course, only one person is truly qualified to write about this historic release - the man who is still leader of the Beach Boys to this day, Mike Love. Unless he was too busy working on a re-release of Looking Back With Love. Bruce could add his 2 cents, how he went around adjusting the microphones of Carl and Brian when they were recording "God Only Knows", and Brian liked his mic work so much he asked Bruce to sing on the song.
