More solo material...he never plays enough from his older albums. A Gershwin track, Proud Mary, Goin home, midnights another day...RIO GRANDE!!??

From Al, I'd like to hear Susie Cincinnati or Honkin' Down the Highway. Maybe Vegetables. From Brian, Midnight's Another Day or Pacific Coast Highway. One Dennis/Carl song would be nice too.

I'd love to hear Al sing Susie Cincinnati.

Also would like to hear Leaving This Town, I'll Bet He's Nice with a great Pet Sounds orchestral vibe, sung by Brian. Nothing But Love from Gershwin. Also, sometime during the concert I'd love to hear the "the river's deep and the river's so wide" section from Rio Grande.

I'd love Brian to perform Carl's 'Heaven' live. His version released on his website was really nice. Has he ever played it live?

Brian's been cranking out the solo albums for a couple decades now, it's time for him to play more of that material - Melt Away, Midnight's Another Day, Rio Grande.

I hope they bust out "Song to God".

As a tribute to Dennis, "River Song" with Blondie on lead vocals.  How awesome would that be?  Would also love to hear "Funky Pretty" with Brian, Al, and Blondie trading off.

I dont know if it was played at all gigs in 1976 but Susi Cincinatti was played at Anaheim stadium 1976 and it ROCKED.. Later i found out Dennis hated the song. I allways wondered about that..Too Cute for Dennis maybe?? The song rocks live or in the studio so i enjoy it..

I remember back circa 2000 or 2001 or some time around then, Al was scheduled to play the “Pop Overthrow Festival.” He later had to back out (I think there was some court case stuff that he had to attend; though I could be remembering incorrectly), and afterwards some of the stuff he was planning on playing was mentioned. I think “Susie Cincinnati” and “Lady Lynda” were on the list.

That was a cool moment getting to see Blondie sing it in 2013 in Oakland with Brian, Al, and Dave. They did it in a lower key (I think the same key as the “Family & Friends” version with Matt singing the lead), but it was still cool to hear that in addition to the obligatory (and also cool) “Sail on Sailor.”

Hoping this year, with Blondie on the full tour, they’ll at least bust out one or two other 70s tracks like “Funky Pretty” (a cool chance for Brian, Blondie, and Al to trade off on the lead) and maybe “Leaving this Town.” Given its inclusion at the Vegas show, I suppose “Hold on Dear Brother” might be more likely.

I don’t think “Kiss Me Baby” is particularly far-fetched. It was in Brian’s setlist regularly in the 1999-2000 time frame (and checking quickly, it was there in 2001 and 2002 sometimes as well, not sure about later years), and they did it on C50.

They actually mixed up the setlist quite a bit in 2013 relative to the number of shows and the length of the shows. 2014 not so much, although they were doing a lot of one-off shows, and of course few shows in total.

I think the interesting thing to see will be how long the setlist is on this upcoming tour, and what they can fit in. They have an opening act on this tour, so I don’t know if that will shorten the show at all (presumably it won’t shorten the shows as much as the 2013 Beck tour). But if you factor in the “core” songs, then new album songs, and a few songs we know they’ll likely do (e.g. “Sail on Sailor” with Blondie there), I don’t know how much room will be left.

It’ll also be interesting to see if Brian works “Love and Mercy” back into the setlist what with the movie coming out.

What a great idea to have Blondie along for the whole tour, his "Wild Honey" is a blast!

How's this for a semi-realistic 90 minute show?

1.   You’re So Good To Me
Song begins with extended intro as BAB walk on stage. Brian sings first verse, Al second.
 
2.   Wild Honey
Blondie on lead. Much grittier version than the Venetian one. Sax solo replaced by keyboard

3.   You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone
The grittiness continues; Blondie sings lead with Brian on sloppy double tracking

4.   The Little Girl I Once Knew
For the first time ever, a live audience gets to hear this song without Jeffrey Foskett dominating the vocal mix. Brian and Al sings lead with Matt taking the high part.

Pet Sounds block:
5.   You Still Believe In Me
With some microphone technique training and an engineer who knows Al’s voice and its lack of power in the high register, this could work. Otherwise, have Matt help out where it gets out of Al’s comfort zone.

6.   Wouldn’t It Be Nice
Al, in the key of E. This has been proven to work!

7.   I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times
Brian of course, answered by Al on the tag. Note that Brian is not doubled by anyone in the verses.

8.   God Only Knows

After the intermission, the scene lies in darkness. A dark, sustained note, somewhat familiar, suddenly breaks through the silence. The moment Brian begins to sing, the lights come back and shows Brian behind the Baldwin organ. Yes, the Baldwin, not a. The song is the Smiley Smile version of

While the rest of the band backs him up, Brian handles the bulk of the singing and playing. The songs ends with a prolonged “Whispering Winds” fade which abruptly leads in to

in which Al wears a hat. Al and Brian share the lead.

follows, featuring Al and Blondie in a guitar duel during the fade. Brian sings Carl’s parts.

Blondie looked like he was primed to go with his guitar solo during 'Wild Honey' and with Brians band he has the musicians to pull it off.

Its 40 years since the Charles Lloyd/ Carli Munoz days and 1-2 extended songs would make a point of difference between the C50, M&B and Brian's previous tours.

"Mess of Help" is a great idea... and yes, ditch the sax solo on "Wild Honey," sounds like an SNL rerun going to commercial just as Blondie is getting going. More guitar or that tasty organ break!

Just two tracks from the new album ?

When I wrote that, I had only heard TRT and SA of the non-guest songs. So it felt a bit weird adding songs I only had heard snippets of. (I assume that the guest artists won't tour with Brian, and that they won't replace them with e.g. Brian singing their parts.) Having now heard The Last Song as well, I'd like to see it ... closing out the first set?

Makes sense, doesn't it? I hope they give it a shot during rehearsals...

Wait! Another opportunity: "Midnight's Another Day" with Al singing that wordless part that sounds like it should have been his to sing all along.

Since he's touring with Al and Blondie, I think it's a safe bet that they'll be playing "Sail Away" at every show.  I'm going to guess that most or all of the other songs where Al Jardine is a guest vocalist will also be played.

I'm not so sure about the other songs on the new album, mostly because of the guest vocalists.  There are quite a few of those songs I'd like to hear live, but some of them might require some re-imagining without the guest vocalists.

Apart from the new songs, I'm guessing "Wild Honey" and "Sail On, Sailor" will be played a fair amount in addition to the usual suspects ("Good Vibrations," "California Girls" et. al.).  But here are my probably unrealistic personal wishes:

"Aren't You Glad"--No reason they'd play this one, but as it's probably my favorite song…
"Busy Doin' Nothin'"--I think Al could do a good lead on this one now
"Time to Get Alone"--Blondie lead.  Maybe a crazy idea, and probably unlikely in the extreme as Brian doesn't play this one.
"I'll Bet He's Nice"--As with "Aren't You Glad," this one will always be on my wish list.  It also has a nice trade-off for three lead vocalists, and I think Brian doing Dennis' lead, Al doing Brian's, and Blondie doing Carl's middle-eight would be nice.
"Strange World"

I'd also really like to hear "Runaway Dancer" and "Saturday Night," but without the guest vocalists I'm not sure they'll play those.  Especially "Runaway Dancer."
