The proposed B-Side for "When I Grow Up To Be  Man" was originally the version of Johnny B. Goode that is on the Keep An Eye On Summer set just released. I played this back to back with my mono concert CD and they sound the same. Does anyone know if they are different mixes or just pulled from the mono concert LP master? I know that the intro is has been spliced, but other than that I can't hear any differences.

Bob, I spoke to Alan Boyd about that track.  I suspect that the tape was assigned a 45 master number because the track was included on the rare Capitol promo EP "Brian Wilson Introduces Selections from BEACH BOYS CONCERT" (Capitol PRO 2754/2755) -- not because it was considered for single release.  Alan had forgotten about that EP.  I agree that the mixes are the same.

Still like that Little Honda alternate. Putting together a CD for myself of the guys hits (Fun Fun Fun, Help Me Rhonda etc) only with alternate versions. Yeah, I am that kind of nerd!

Also could someone check their KFWB "Spirit of America" 45 and tell me whether it is vinyl or styrene, and what the matrix number scratches look like in the trail out grooves?  A few years ago I picked up two copies real cheaply (one for around $150; one for less than $100), and I am concerned that they may be counterfeit.  But I've never heard that it was bootlegged.

What's the guideines for rarity here? USA Only? Mint condition or any shape? Records only, or Pic/title sleeves included with original?

 Salt Lake City Promo is at most a common rarity. It shows up  frequently for sale, albeit usually in lesser conditions

Having listed those, tho, if all music isn't a requirement, then the #1 rarity is the " We'll sell a million copies in January" promo LP( ONE copy known to exist in the world):

Bgas, I wasn't looking for a major production, just a simple list of a few records, that's it! And of COURSE they're USA only. Were any of them released in other countries? Obviously no. Did I say anything about sleeves? No. If I wanted to put up Bob & Sheri or Kenny & The Cadets or Surfin' on X or Revolution/Number One or any other rarity, I would have included them. Just a simple list. I think everyone would have a different opinion on what's rarer.

Jukebox EP's? They're ALL equally rare. Except for the 'Greatest Hits Vol. I" with the blue paper sleeve of course. Plus, the Salt Lake City promo definitely belongs on the Top 10 rarities list in my opinion.

Whoever has the most money to spend on Beach Boys records can have whatever Beach Boys records they want!

Chris, Mikie provided a list, and I ranked them.  I did say "vinyl only" because the KFWB sleeve would definitely throw anything out of whack.  And I assumed near mint condition.

That's plain Whacky!   KFWB was issued WITH the Sleeve; to value it as a rarity any other way is bonkers.
Do you value LPs without the record or cover? Of course you don't.   The value/rarity of an item comes with it's original issue state. 
So KFWB over Safari EP( with the cover; nowhere near as rare with just the vinyl)

I disagree.  The KFWB single trades hands without the sleeve 100 times more frequently than it does with the sleeve, so it's fair to assess the rarity of the vinyl only versus other vinyl only.  Do you place a value on an original Capitol 45 of "Good Vibrations" only if it comes with the picture sleeve?  Of course not.  There is a value for the vinyl, and a value for the sleeve.

Sure, everything has a value. And all you did was rank their rarity. Might as well have asked to rank the rarity for these:

Without the sleeves, many are collectibles, but not really rarities. The jukebox EPs without the covers are filler pieces that rarely sell. Salt Lake City is a common piece now, tho Mint copies do command a nice price as the collectibles they are, but by definition, they're NOT rare. (Of course if you're only willing to buy a mint copy and not willing to pay the price, then it will be a rarity for that person) 

The KFWB trades( sells) regularly; it's a collectible, but not really a rarity.  So that leaves these:

  The above three are really rare, hardly ever offered for sale. BUT, I think there would be a a lot less interest shown in either of the first two without their sleeves.

Did Capitol ever release anything on polystyrene?  I think I'd be concerned too.  But if it is a counterfeit, at least it would fall into the category of a collectible counterfeit.

I generated my Honeys list after noting the results of past auctions/set sales. And the SDTSR sleeve has always been the most sought after as far as Honey's collectibles, wouldn't you say? Possibly as rare as the Ten Little Indians sleeve (or rarer) if you were comparing value?

Thanks, Lee.  I'm noticing now that I have a  Tonight You Belong/Goodnight My Love promo (red/orange target),
then I also have a Canadian Tonight You Belong/Goodnight My Love (stock copy...regular classic orange/yellow swirl).
Forgot about these things!  Those were the days.

Honeys sleeve is much rarer than "10 Little Indians" -- "10LI" can be had in mint condition for around $150.  I've never seen the Honeys sleeve sell for less than $500, until one sold on eBay for $361.78 a few weeks ago.  That one was in VG to VG+ condition, with some wrinkles and stains -- but still a pretty good deal IMHO.  In my old pre-family days with unlimited record collecting budget I would have picked it up for that as a second copy.

I think I've mentioned before that mine is autographed by Marilyn, Diane, and Ginger, and has a long handwritten inscription to a family member.  Bgas and I have debated whether that adds to the value, or subtracts from it.
