Joe Mauldin, best known for playing bass in Buddy Holly's Crickets, passed away Saturday morning aged 74.

I always loved the sound of the Crickets. Jerry Allison's drumming is so cool.

RIP. I absolutely love The Crickets, so sad to lose another '50s era musician.

most people probably won't recognize his name, although being a 'Cricket'

was a massive contribution to the early white rock'n'roll music scene.

White Rock n Roll ? Rock & Roll was about breaking down color barriers. It's all one art!
If he was great --which any member of the Crickets, was -- then he shouldn't need any qualifiers.
Especially one small as race.
