Title: Question about Brians vox on 'Sweet Mountain' Post by: matt-zeus on May 24, 2006, 02:09:38 PM At about 3 minutes into this most mysterious and beautiful song, there is a weird voice in the left channel going "and it rained on the mountain, the mountain of love" , it's sung in a weird voice and precedes Brians higher bits at 3.22. I take these weird bits to be Brian singing in a peculiar voice, particularly as at the end of the section he sounds very much like he does in the 'Love you' era.
Can anyone else speculate or verify this? Title: Re: Question about Brians vox on 'Sweet Mountain' Post by: Fantastico! on May 24, 2006, 02:14:51 PM what I hear on the tag:
Mike Love: Rained on/ Rained on/ it Rained on.. Brian: well it rained on de'mountain, de'mountain of love. Girls: in care of my-y/ montagne d'amour... Title: Re: Question about Brians vox on 'Sweet Mountain' Post by: al on May 24, 2006, 05:28:41 PM I always thought that was Mike on the backgrounds - AGD (I think) insisted previously that it was all Brian and I think he's probably right, though sometimes I can still hear Mike.
I've asked loads of times for info about this wonderful song but no-one seems to know much other than the facts on the record sleeve. Who wrote what? Who produced it? DOes any other Beach boy sing on it. Why didn't he keep it for the Beach Boys! Love that song! Title: Re: Question about Brians vox on 'Sweet Mountain' Post by: XY on May 24, 2006, 09:48:50 PM "Rained on, Rained on"... is Brian
"it rained on de'mountain, de'mountain of love" is probably David Sandler It was produced by Brian, Stephen Desper & David Sandler. I guess Brian delivered a rough basic instrumental track with Moog & Piano, Sandler & Desper added additional instruments & sound effects. Quote Why didn't he keep it for the Beach Boys! Well, this is a rewrite of "My Solution". |
