Happy Halloween everybody! It's pumpkin time! Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: bgas on October 31, 2014, 08:48:51 AM Ahh, I would have expected it to sound a bit fuller; makes one pine for the live BBs version where Mike adds real feeling !

Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: CenturyDeprived on October 31, 2014, 09:49:59 AM I just realized a musical similarity between "Monster Mash" and "Teeter Totter Love".
Anyone else notice this? I guess it's that both are cut out of the '60s novelty tune template, and probably unintentional on BW's part, but I do hear it. Yes, I'm sure some people did. Actually I was there. Note their costumes on FB. The audience was like a bunch of 80-year-olds watching Doo-Wop on PBS in their Barcaloungers. I stood up during a fast song, and one old biddy tugged at my shirt because she couldn't see. Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Nicko1234 on October 31, 2014, 12:55:08 PM Mike & Bruce did this song last night...did anyone see this show? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Grdxch73vic Utterly preposterous. :) Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: wantsomecorn on October 31, 2014, 01:13:40 PM Well, I thought I'd seen everything, but Bruce Johnston performing Monster Mash in a marijuana costume was certainly a first.
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Shady on October 31, 2014, 05:52:05 PM The Monster Mash is nothing without Mike Love >:D
Happy Halloween! Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Pretty Funky on October 31, 2014, 09:24:21 PM Mike with a wig. Can someone with the tech savy get a shot for the Mike Love picture thread? Got to be a few captions there.:lol
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: relx on November 01, 2014, 06:49:46 AM Is Mike wearing his baseball cap under the wig?
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Rocker on November 01, 2014, 07:39:38 AM Never thought I'd see the day Mike appears on stage with a cannabis plant. Strange world...
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Cabinessenceking on November 01, 2014, 08:47:20 AM Well, I thought I'd seen everything, but Bruce Johnston performing Monster Mash in a marijuana costume was certainly a first. ;D Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: alf wiedersehen on November 01, 2014, 07:46:34 PM Never thought I'd see the day Mike appears on stage with a cannabis plant. Strange world... Especially when that cannabis plant doubles as Bruce Johnston. Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: send me a picture and i'll tell you on November 01, 2014, 11:47:41 PM Dennis is now represented by "Do You Wanna Dance", which sounded like a single lead vocal track from the recording. It sounded rather ghoulish in its seemingly-autotuned flat affect.
The video on the screen during was some live early-60's footage of Dennis. Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: stack-o-tracks on November 02, 2014, 01:44:01 AM The f***, Bruce? First you make everybody think you're this lamewad square, but now you're this weed leaf wearing kind of person I'd love to burn a fatty blunt with while knocking back a few Pacificos watching reruns of Family Guy.
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Rocker on November 02, 2014, 04:25:29 AM The f***, Bruce? First you make everybody think you're this lamewad square, but now you're this weed leaf wearing kind of person I'd love to burn a fatty blunt with while knocking back a few Pacificos watching reruns of Family Guy. A bag of weed, a bag of weed, everything goes better with a bag of weed.... :hat Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: STE on November 03, 2014, 03:47:28 AM I wish the touring Beach Boys played The Monster Mash again.. oh wait, they just did!! http://youtu.be/Grdxch73vic (http://youtu.be/Grdxch73vic) Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Cyncie on November 03, 2014, 07:22:00 AM Maybe the theme was "Opposite day," like they have in schools. So, Mike has hair and Bruce is "doing drugs." ;D
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: CenturyDeprived on November 03, 2014, 10:55:15 AM Never thought I'd see the day Mike appears on stage with a cannabis plant. Strange world... While I do think it's hilarious that Bruce wore a pot plant costume, it totally baffles me that he and Mike would have a drug reference like that be part of their show (even under Halloween comedic circumstances), considering how Mike has endlessly mentioned how much he looks down upon drug use of all kinds. Bruce has certainly mentioned disparaging drug use quite a bit too. Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: wantsomecorn on November 03, 2014, 12:07:47 PM His costume says "stay off the grass". Doesn't sound like he's supporting drug use to me. :hat
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: CenturyDeprived on November 03, 2014, 12:23:22 PM His costume says "stay off the grass". Doesn't sound like he's supporting drug use to me. :hat Got it - I didn't realize that before. Makes more sense now. Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Pretty Funky on November 04, 2014, 04:22:23 AM Maybe his instructions were mis-heard. Instead of 'I'm a bit stiff at Halloween' it came out as 'I'm a big spliff...' :smokin
Title: Re: A Graveyard Smash Post by: Rocker on November 04, 2014, 08:33:03 AM Drugs at least would explain some of Bruce's on stage antics ;D
