I was thinking.... did the Beach Boys do enough TM-related songs to string together into a concept album?

Off the top of my head:
* Transcendental Meditation  [Friends]
* Anna Lee, The Healer  [Friends]
* TM Song  [15 Big Ones]
* He Come Down  [So Tough]
* All This Is That  [So Tough]
* Spiritual Regeneration  [Mike with the Beatles - slated for release on 'Mike Love, Not War']

Surely there must be more??

Quite a few solo bits that could work. Maybe Cool Head Warm Heart, Pisces Brothers,  and whatever that weird song "eternal ballad" song Al did.

Could make a case for meant for you, "as I sit and close my eyes, there's peace in my mind"

Good!  I'll throw this together.... "Love and Devotion" seems like a clever title. :-P

Well, it beats the hell out of my other concept album idea - throwing all of Brian's creepy/suspicious songs from the 15 Big Ones-Love You era into a concept album called "The Beach Boys Are Going To Jail."  ;D 

I'd throw in Charles Lloyd's "TM," with a whole bunch of BB's on backing vocals.

There is a vimeo of Al & Mike interview with the Maharishi footage set to the song, but other than that, I never heard it being about or even slightly related to TM. Can you direct me to a rightful source?

I thought it was a well known fact that Mike wrote 'All I Wanna Do' for Maharishi.

Well, I didn't read any BBs book, so it's not a well-known fact for me. Anyone care to bring the actual quote/excerpt? metal flake paint? Ian? c-man? Mr. Mayo?

maybe add the two or three Charles Lloyd tracks to it would work (All Life Is One, TM, How Sweet)  :)

We (and by we, I mean me) all know that it's my greatest, fondest dream that Mike Love shake off the failure of Summer in Paradise and put out a TM concept album!

No and let's hope not. Nothing against meditation, just these whacky compilation ideas. If you're really that bored, might I suggest taking up hardcore drug use? And no, there aren't enough BB songs about that to make up an unnecessary album either.

Or I'll continue to do what makes me happy and you can mind your own business.

HAH!  That 'naked Brian' cover is definitely going onto my "The Beach Boys Are Going To Jail" idea. :-P

I think this is a great idea for a concept compilation. I haven't got much to add other than maybe throwing in a few BBs instrumentals: Diamond Head, Let's Go Away for Awhile, Pet Sounds.

I also like the idea of including the Charles Lloyd tracks, as well as all the BBs tracks mentioned above.

Yeah, but would the instrumentals fit the TM theme?

You could put interview excerpts with Mike going on and on about the benefits of TM over them and make them segues.
