Title: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: ESQ Editor on October 02, 2014, 11:57:30 PM Check out my version of 2012's That's Why God Made The Radio—retitled Beaches In Mined—complete with front and back CD art.
Give the sequence a shot… https://www.facebook.com/ESQ.Editor Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: luckyoldsmile on October 03, 2014, 12:49:03 AM I'll give this a look. :)
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Disney Boy (1985) on October 03, 2014, 03:05:16 AM I like that you've replaced the aural nightmare that is Daybreak with Fight The Sea, although in terms of the cover... Nah. I like the TWGMTR cover. Aside from the horrid Beach Boys font, it's one of the most artistically tasteful covers they've ever had. It ranks alongside Smiley, Surf's Up and Holland.
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Fire Wind on October 03, 2014, 03:16:16 AM But Daybreak's my favourite song on there! Ditch Bill and Sue instead and it's all good.
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: The Shift on October 03, 2014, 04:02:06 AM I'd find room for the DIA remake too, though I prefer the one in the video, with the tail-end banter to the officially released version.
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: pixletwin on October 03, 2014, 07:41:57 AM I would ditch both Bill and Sue and Beaches in Mind... but then your album title would be a head scratcher. :lol
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: southbay on October 03, 2014, 07:52:57 AM I always thought the album should have been titled Pacific Coast Highway
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: joshferrell on October 03, 2014, 10:08:27 AM they should have called the album "Bitches in Mind" that way all the young people would buy it thinking that it's a rap cd making it #1...lol...

I'd feel absolutely normal if the album was called "Spring Vacation" & didn't actually have it (my least fave). Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Shady on October 04, 2014, 08:54:29 PM I like this song.
Classic Mike Love track, stupid as hell but catchy. Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Micha on October 05, 2014, 04:01:09 AM Ditch Bill and Sue instead and it's all good. That's the best you can do, unless you replace it with "Summer Of Love". I don't want to go to facebook. Can you post the sequence here? Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: luckyoldsmile on October 05, 2014, 01:39:22 PM I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, but I figured I'd post the tracklisting here. If the moderators want to remove the post, that's cool, no hard feelings. I understand people wanting to drive traffic to their own sites (including Facebook), for several reasons.
The "Beaches In Mind" proposed sequence: 01. Think About the Days 02. That's Why God Made the Radio 03. Isn't It Time 04. Spring Vacation 05. Beaches In Mind 06. Shelter 07. Don't Fight the Sea 08. The Private Life of Bill & Sue 09. Strange World 10. From There to Back Again 11. Pacific Coast Highway 12. Summer's Gone Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: ESQ Editor on October 05, 2014, 05:53:48 PM It's okay with me.
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Sound of Free on October 05, 2014, 06:40:44 PM I always thought that the title track should open the album, and Think About the Days should have been track 9, signifying the change into the amazing final three tracks.
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: MyDrKnowsItKeepsMeCalm on October 05, 2014, 06:52:46 PM I always thought that the title track should open the album, and Think About the Days should have been track 9, signifying the change into the amazing final three tracks. That's an intriguing idea. Personally I don't like the title track quite enough to make it Track 1, but Think About the Days would have been a perfect opener to the suite at the end. Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: donald on October 05, 2014, 07:05:56 PM I always thought that the title track should open the album, and Think About the Days should have been track 9, signifying the change into the amazing final three tracks. How about having it in both places for effect and to sort of reprise the use of our prayer on the BW smile piece? Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: RangeRoverA1 on October 05, 2014, 08:16:57 PM I like this song. That's my favorite fun type song on the new BBs album. Classic indeed.Classic Mike Love track, stupid as hell but catchy. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, but I figured I'd post the tracklisting here. If the moderators want to remove the post, that's cool, no hard feelings. You kidding? Why would the mods remove the custom-made tracklisting of an album that's been already released? Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: southbay on October 06, 2014, 09:44:04 AM How about IIT as the opener, then the title track? Alternatively you could add the new version of Do It Again as the album opener.. In all cases you drop TAD to just before the suite. Another idea--has anyone tried TAD in front of Strange World? Weren't there reports that Strange World is actually the suite opener?
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Emdeeh on October 06, 2014, 10:39:09 AM My personal TWGMTR playlist ends with "Strange World."
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Robbie Mac on October 06, 2014, 10:44:43 AM My personal TWGMTR playlist ends with "Strange World." And chop off the best songs on the album? Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Disney Boy (1985) on October 06, 2014, 10:53:14 AM Summer's Gone HAS to be the final track. It just has to be, period.
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: pixletwin on October 06, 2014, 01:03:09 PM My personal track lists keeps the vinyl track sequence but I replace BIM and TPLoBaS with Soul Searchin and Waves of Love. I also stick My Love Lives On in there between Strange World and FTTBA. :o
Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Emdeeh on October 06, 2014, 01:51:32 PM Summer's Gone HAS to be the final track. It just has to be, period. Not for me. I moved "Strange World" to the end of the album, because I found I liked having a quirky, upbeat song following the suite. Gives the whole thing a bit of a lift. That's just my tastes, tho. Yours may, and I expect will, vary. Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: Micha on October 07, 2014, 12:33:32 AM I always thought that the title track should open the album, and Think About the Days should have been track 9, signifying the change into the amazing final three tracks. In my own custom track order, I have "Think About The Days" sandwiched between "From There to Back Again" and "Pacific Coast Highway" - and I find it so perfect that this one time I recommend trying it yourself. My order BTW opens with "Isn't It Time", features "Waves Of Love" instead of the dreadful TPLOBAS, and the first side ends with "That's Why God Made the Radio". Title: Re: BEACHES IN MIND Post by: stack-o-tracks on October 07, 2014, 12:51:55 AM Daybreak is definitely not the song on the album I'd get rid of if I was switching up the tracklist, but it definitely could have used a new recording. That part where they go up a half step in the last chorus is fuckin' sad & pathetic. Terrible that it ended up on what's probably going to be the last Beach Boys studio album, but alas.
Wouldn't replace it with a cover song, that's for sure....
