Had no idea he was as old as that... Title: Re: Bob Crewe RIP Post by: JK on September 16, 2014, 08:53:22 AM http://fridaynightboys300.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/bob-crewe-rip.html Quite. You could say he reached a good age. Had no idea he was as old as that... This is probably my favourite of his co-writes/productions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpl_jPxSuFg Still sounds great half a century later. R.I.P., sir. Title: Re: Bob Crewe RIP Post by: guitarfool2002 on September 16, 2014, 09:14:10 AM RIP, wow, what a resume he had. Amazing. "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" is my favorite, probably. I think it's forgotten that he was also involved in those classic 60's Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels hits like Devil With A Blue Dress and Jenny Take A Ride, which are still some of the hardest rocking records ever made.
Title: Re: Bob Crewe RIP Post by: Rich E P on September 18, 2014, 11:11:37 AM Loved The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli. Bob Crewe's contributions were a large part of the records' charm. Great productions. Inventive percussion. Aggressive vocals. My absolute fave is Rag Doll. Out "wall-of-sound's" Phil Spector's work IMHO. Everything about that record is sheer perfection. Lyrics, Instrumental track, harmonies, lead vocal. The intro and the fade are glorious. Melodramatic, almost operatic and religious but just perfect pop music really. Listen to it again. It does not disappoint.
