Title: He Couldn't Get His Poor Old Body To Move
Post by: Mikie on September 09, 2014, 09:56:45 AM
I just wanted to get something clear on this song.

Someone here mentioned a Brian Wilson/Gary Usher version of "He Couldn't Get His Poor Old Body to Move". I can't recall hearing that before. Maybe Brian wrote it during the time he was with Gary Usher in 1986 or 1987? I have a boot of the song with different lyrics than the released one. Is this the demo version that was supposedly written in 1987 with Usher? Wikipedia says, "He Couldn't Get His Poor Old Body to Move" was a collaboration between Wilson and Gary Usher recorded in 1987.

The released version is credited to B. Wilson, Lindsay Buckingham, and Landy. "Produced by B. Wilson/E. Landy" "Executive Producer: E. Landy". (Landy was later taken off the credits after the lawsuit). No Gary Usher credit. In actuality, Brian and Lindsay were the only ones that produced the final version of the song. Buckingham had a LOT to do with the production and I believe the re-write of the lyrics.

Correcto mundo?

Sounds right to me. Usher also helped write "Walkin the Line" and didn't get a credit for that one, either.

Demo was recorded June 28th & 29th 1986. Like it says on 10452, and has for a good ten years.  ;D
