Title: Bob Moog's grave marker
Post by: PongHit on August 21, 2014, 01:30:25 PM
Bob Moog's daughter, Michelle Moog-Koussa, explains:

"In lieu of a traditional grave marker, our family decided to honor my father with a granite bench, which is near a tree in a peaceful spot -- a place that he would have liked to spend time and think. The two word tribute encapsulates so much about him. He is deeply missed."

Very significant - Not that Moog invented the theremin but he made big contributions to its
popularity and accessibility to musicians. And what would the song be without that?

And then just the whole frequency, oscillation, sound vibration thing related to music synthesis.
Moog did create a lotta Good Vibrations.

But why are there rocks all over the bench??

It's a Jewish custom: http://www.myjewishlearning.com/ask_the_expert/at/Ask_the_Expert_Stones.shtml

I don't know if you have ever seen Schindler's List, but the end of movie shows the cast members with the actual people they were playing placing rocks on Oscar Schindler's grace as a token of deep respect.
