I'll definitely miss having him around, hopefully he'll back one day.

AGD or Wirestone. They both seem to take the most offense to general name calling. I would just love to see how they handle all the one on one personal attacks that happen on a more regular basis around here. I'd nominate myself, but I'd ban half the board members on the first day. Can't have that now, can we? ;)

I'm neutral, all right. I have a mild disdain for everyone and/or can't keep them straight.

I second the thanks to Jason. I think he did fairly decent job. Sad to see him go, but it is what it is I guess.

Andrew's like a big brother to me, and have been tight with him for over ten years. Wirestone likewise is  a good friend. That said, SH and I need serious time to think this over, as many things need to be considered. whomever we choose needs to be someone with a bit of tact, a thick skin, the ability to be objective, ect.

I need to also clarify that Jason asked me to delete his account; I did so per his request. It was not anything 'sinister' or anything of the sort.

I'd like to take myself out of nomination. This is one area of my life (BB/BW fandom) where I allow myself not to be fair and neutral, and I'd like to keep it that way. But thanks for the kind words.

Being a mod isn't all fun and games. Actually, it rarely is. Oftentimes, no matter what you do, you'll still end up pissing someone off. Hell, there's a few people here who have sent me nasty PMs accusing me of being a biased Mike Love supporter, and have also gotten accused of being a Brianista! :lol

That said, for the most part, I do enjoy it here, and hopefully i have made someone of a positive impact here.

I just thought that nominating the people who called for Jason's head should take on his responsibilities. But yeah, you are right.

Rest assured, whomever takes his place will be someone who would be VERY qualified, and the person whom I personally think would be the best fit has already been contacted...I'm awaiting Smile Holland's feedback and any suggestions from him before moving forward.



Not by a longshot (as I could name about three or four that would be the drizzling shits), but I haven't approached him about it for the same reason Jason chose to resign. I've always held that as a moderator, one must be above the fray and not let personal feelings affect one's ability to do their job fairly and without prejudice. Despite being on opposite sides of just about everything, both guys are rather similar, which likely explains why we get along so well.

Why doesn't it make sense? AGD is learned fellow, a Beach Boys historian. Could correct everyone's misnomers and never call you out or call you a name. Wirestone is quite saintly and very PC. He would make a great internet policeman. On a serious note though, whoever is added will need brass balls, skin thick as armor, and someone who most here will respect when the law needs to be laid down. No easy task, I'm sure.

I meant that the idea of electing someone a mod based on their opinions of the last mod is not sound - not that either of them wouldn't make good mods - but I think there are better ways to go about deciding. I'd just leave it to Billy and Klaas to decide - they're the ones who have to work with the next person in that position.

I haven't really posted about this mess, other than taking myself out of contention for any mod-ship. But I want to make a couple of points, and then I'm not going to post about it anymore, because it distresses me.

At first, I simply asked for TRBB to apologize. My second post on the topic asked that if he truly believed his fellow board members were sociopaths, that he resign as a mod.

I did not and do not think that he truly believes that, and am frankly sad that he left. I don't think members should try to run off other members of the board, and that was not my intent. If he or anyone else thinks that was the case, I apologize. What makes this board as rewarding as it is -- and infuriating as it is -- is the incredible diversity of opinions and views. We need more of that, not less.

Folks here sometimes, I think, misunderstand my posts and general attitude. I love BW/BB music. I love talking about it with people. And I enjoy mixing it up. Yes, sometimes I get caught up in very emotional debates, but I always try very hard to separate people from the messages they post. I may be harsh in responding to the contents of a message, but I don't bear any ill will to the folks who post them. And that includes people who've said some fairly mean things to me over the years. Indeed, even though TRBB and I wrangled at various points, I rather liked him. And that goes for others here, too -- folks like Pinder and Cam and SJS, who make me gnash my teeth sometimes, but who are also smart and quick and make this board the place that it is.

The SS board has become very important to me over the years. And the board isn't separate from those who post on it -- it is the people who post on it.

Guitarfool seems a considerate, intelligent person who, unlike some of the other 'nominees' seems lees likely to use the opportunity to ram his opinion down other people's throats or to chide you for not sharing his idea of what a good Beach Boys song is.

To be a truly effective mod you have to be fair, even-handed and rise above person feuds and petty spats, like Billy and Klass invariably do. Not being a condescending and often intolerant arse would also be a prerequisite so that's me out of the frame.

The main point is the continued existence of this forum, and that requires more than two functioning mods.

I'd say Micha who's a level headed kind of guy or Pixletwin who's put a lot of effort into the Elimination Threads. I'd also nominate Pinder but fear the first thing he'd do is let OSD back in the door.

At one point he asked if a lady standing by Mike was a hooker - stupid thing to say, but I don't think he meant to directly call his wife a prostitute. That got him a ban.

He was kinda abruptly banned for the final time.

That was more of a last straw than anything.  He was actually banned before, and that was supposed to be permanent.  Him being reinstated was an accident...it was supposed to be set to never expire, but it was inputted in wrong.

From my position on the sidelines I think Gertie J. would make an excellent Mod. She doesn't mince words and her comments are always crisp and to the point. Worth considering.
