It is literally the  the world's most common musical sequence.  There are lots of cultures where I-IV-V may be pretty rarely used.

It is literally the  the world's most common musical sequence.  There are lots of cultures where I-IV-V may be pretty rarely used.

I had no idea that it was smug to assume that perhaps the strongest musical cadence was the most popular.
Excuse me as I retreat back under my rock called "America."

Exactly what I was thinking.  I'll bet 30% of popular music is I IV V

As for it being western, all the examples he gave are western of Andalusian Cadence...
