Title: Nearly 16 minute edit of Heroes and Villains?!?! Post by: soniclovenoize on July 08, 2014, 07:52:42 AM As a fun Fourth of July Weekend project, I thought I'd try my hand at something Mok did long ago, and see if I could top him... That is to make the longest possible edit of Heroes and Villains using all the segments recorded for and/or originally intended to be in the song. It ended up hitting just under 16 minutes in length. Here it is if you are curious...
"Heroes and Villains" soniclovenoize Absurdly Long Mix (aka 'Into The Rabbit Hole' Edit) http://www77.zippyshare.com/v/42498543/file.html It includes I'm In Great Shape, Barnyard, the Do A Lot chorus and I Love To Say Dada, since those ideas originated with Heroes and Villains... But what's really interesting is I attempted to try and organized the pieces chronologically as they were recorded, so that as one listens to this, you can get a feel for how Brian's concept for the song evolved over time. Thus this edit begins with the "Humble Harve" construction from November '66 and ends with the Smiley Smile construction from June '67 (with the only exceptions being that I used the formal tracking sessions for Do A Lot, Dada, Barnyard and IIGS for a more complete-sounding song. I also ended everything with the False Barnyard fade, because, well, that's the Fade). Also of note, I excluded the Verse and Fade remakes, as well as the Children Were Raised remake. Everything should happen once. Enjoy! Title: Re: Nearly 16 minute edit of Heroes and Villains?!?! Post by: TheLazenby on July 11, 2014, 07:03:42 AM Rather than a chronological edit, though (since the song just comes off as a medley of completely unrelated fragments with no structure), why not use the common 10-minute configuration of H&V - essentially what's heard on the Odeon 'Smile' - as a base, and try to fit the rest into aurally pleasant spots?

Because that's neither fun nor interesting. Title: Re: Nearly 16 minute edit of Heroes and Villains?!?! Post by: yonderhillside on July 18, 2014, 03:17:19 PM That's an interesting listen lovenoize. My personal "mix" clocks in at about 15 minutes. I parenthesize "mix" because the tracks just run one after the other haha.. I like it though, along with just about all yr work on yr site. Looking forward to the end of July submission. ;D
