Title: Re: Valentine's Day 2015 Post by: MyDrKnowsItKeepsMeCalm on July 03, 2014, 07:24:43 AM The event description makes it sound like this show is a continuation of the 2012 reunion lineup, and Brian is both namechecked in the text and present in the sample video. Oy, talk about brand confusion! They need to edit this page in a hurry.

You'd just have to love the blog where I first saw the show listed then.... http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/rftmusic/2014/06/st_louis_show_announcements_beach_boys_willie_nelson.php Title: Re: Valentine's Day 2015 Post by: HeyJude on July 03, 2014, 08:43:41 AM I would assume someone at the venue did a cut-and-paste job from an old tour bio. This happened to Al several times when he toured as "Beach Boys Family & Friends" in 1999. The venue, despite clearly booking BBFF, would bill it as "The Beach Boys" or somehow fudge the band description. When this happened in 1999, it was used as evidence in the lawsuit against Al.
I somehow doubt the same thing will happen now, despite the mis-use and confusion from at least a few venues/promoters in using C50 material to promote a Mike/Bruce show now spanning from an October 2012 date at Nutty Jerry's to a February 2015 date. I think I'll just pretend they didn't f it up and they had been touring this whole time, and the 2015 date is indeed the full reunion lineup. Maybe Live Nation can call Brian and ask him if he'll show up. Not sure if I should use a sad-face emoticon here, or the laughing one, or both. My first instinct was to think 'yeah, the blog bungled that, no way they should have chosen that photo'. But in fairness to the blog editors, how can everyone be expected to have an understanding of the quirky arrangement of the BBs touring band? I know the score because I follow this board, but if that were not the case and I heard that the BBs were coming to town, I certainly wouldn't know that only two of the five surviving members were going to be showing up. It is understandably quite confusing. It is understandably quite confusing. While any given person working for a venue’s website cannot possibly always be familiar with a given band’s lineup or history, even if we set aside the idea of simply researching the few bands you’ve actually booked (five minutes reading the wiki page for bands would probably suffice in most cases), someone in that position should at least be familiar with the fact that aging classic rock/oldies bands from the 60’s do not always maintain the same lineup, so at the very least it is dangerous to simply google the band name and pull a random relatively recent image. There are so many pitfalls to doing that, even for a younger band. In worst case scenarios, you could end up with deceased band members being pictured. Title: Re: Valentine's Day 2015 Post by: MyDrKnowsItKeepsMeCalm on July 03, 2014, 10:02:45 AM Sure, that's fair. FWIW, my comment just above was about whoever chose the blog photo. Agree completely that the venue itself should be much more careful.
Title: Re: Valentine's Day 2015 Post by: bgas on July 03, 2014, 04:40:00 PM I think it's worth noting that in this case, the venue site is only showing a picture of Bruce and Mike.

At some point during the day they changed the verbiage to reflect the actual lineup. So looks like 2015 is another Mike/Bruce year of touring. Credit where it's due -- the revised wording is much, much better. Though I have to question how many "brand new songs recently recorded for That’s Why God Made The Radio" attendees are going to hear. :lol Title: Re: Valentine's Day 2015 Post by: RubberSoul13 on July 03, 2014, 08:01:17 PM At some point during the day they changed the verbiage to reflect the actual lineup. Though I have to question how many "brand new songs recently recorded for That’s Why God Made The Radio" attendees are going to hear. :lol If they're lucky?........MAYBE "Isn't it Time". I think M&B played that a small handful of times through 2012/2013. I didn't hear it at the three shows I attended but, there's youtube clips. It sounded very bare and disappointing, so I'd imagine that's why they aren't playing it. Of course, it's also very hypocritical. But no ukuklele, Totten sang lead, Bruce had the chorus line all to himself. They only changed the wording about who was in the band. They kept all of the other 2012 text the same.
