Amazing- I've seen an original slick in person (it sold for five grand) but never one of these.  He sure does need to show more pictures, though.

Hopefully he'll fold the booklet before shipping. That'll save some postage...

Would something like this have a final (or at least preliminary) track listing for the '67 Smile, maybe even clues to Brians original sequencing?
If somebody actually buys this, they need to scan the damn thing already.

The contents of the booklet have appeared in other places.  No need to scan.

Wow, that's an angle I never thought would be explored - the booklet angle. Certainly, Frank Holmes' drawing of Vega-Tables said "My Vega-Tables" and was subtitled with "The Elements". Every hardcore fan knows that, however.

No, it's not Derek Bill - I bought his booklet (well, Peter Reum's booklet, which ended up with Derek via David Leaf).  Are we sure this isn't the reprinted booklet from the 80's in the UK?

I just purchased it. I hope that my folks aren't mad for the theft of their credit card.

Where can you get a reprint of the booklet?

Are there really only 8-10 of those in existence? If so, I would think it's worth a LOT more than $10,000. I f I were a multi-millionaire, I would probably be willing to dish out $100,000 for one of those things.

By the way, for those who were wondering who was selling this, you can see his name in the payment instructions column--Chris Woods

Is that thing that says "Smile Booklet" part of the actual booklet or just a label he put on it for the picture?

Also, a question for anyone who might know or have a clue: Would SMiLE have likely had a gatefold cover with the booklet stuck in the middle, like Concert, or would the booklet have been separate, inserted in the inside of the record jacket?

I wonder what the 30 cents is for ? You would think an even $10,000.00 would be enough :lol

Maybe it's one of those things where he needs to raise exactly that much money to save the orphanage or something.

Here's the seller's response when I asked about the booklet's provenance (and after I had to explain what "provenance" meant):

I bought it from a dealer in LA. They got it from a collector in LA( on consignment) he had a Smile item pictured in the Goldmine memorabilia book, I'm told.
Doug somebody, I think.
He originally bought it from them.(  the same dealer) I think they said.

Well whatever he needs the money for with things the way they are on ebay lately especially with Beach Boys items he'll be lucky if he gets a bid for $10.00........people just aren't bidding like they used to

It wouldn't suprise me in the slightest if the B.R.I. scout for Ebay ( .. 'Surfmadder', I think) tries to put a stop to the auction and claims that the booklet is B.R.I. property  :police:

Btw, .. Hi, Lisa!  8)

That ain't very convincing provenance.  Sure, the thing's probably real, but the dealer doesn't seem able to make much of a case for it.

So the evidence that this is the real item is:

-the person the guy bought it from told him that it was
-it's bigger than one of the reissues

Not much to go on for my $10,000 bid!

10 Grand seems excessive. I think $2500 is probably more realistic. They are quite rare, however. I guess someone is testing the market.

A hearty Welcome Back, Peter!

Bald, I can't believe you have a Bald Iggle for an avatar.  I'm a huge Al Capp fanatic and am doing some work with his characters for Capp Enterprises right now.

Apparently it has the credits for Guy Webster and Frank Holmes, so it probably isn't a proof (which I have, missing the credits) but one of the mass produced booklets.

Oh, and you don't have to bid $10,000.  There's a "make offer" option - you could see if he'll take $100!
