C'mon guys...I'd assume Surfer doesn't have the boxed set. If I didn't have it, I'd likely have wondered what the differences were myself. We've all been new fans at one point.

I have the Books the every CD's that they made and the 3 box sets including Made in California. Not to be rude but are you nuts

It's one of my favorite songs from my favorite time period of the band, so I definitely do suggest listening to it blind (er...deaf?), because part of the fun IMHO is discovering the differences yourself.

Not even close. I thought you were asking the question because you didn't have the boxed set. I was actually sticking up for you.

Wow.

Not sure of the whole story but since nobody is telling you.... what I've always heard is that the song was never fully mixed by Brian; and they recorded a ton of different parts for it, so different people have done different mixes of it over the years with and without different vocal parts.  Murray Wilson even sings on the song, apparently and was involved with some of the arranging in the chorus.

On the "Warmth of the Sun" cd that came out a few years ago, they have kind of the ultimate version of the song, Mark Linnett's mix with just about everything including the kitchen sink on it.

I think the story goes something like this..

Mike's not available for some reason, but Murry is. So, they use Murray to sing the bass parts.

But you couldn't be bothered to spend ten minutes of your day listening to both versions to find out what the difference is ? And - not to be rude - you wonder why we think you're not only a troll but also a considerable idiot ?

Not being rude, of course...

Something you need to learn, sonny - not to be rude, but here, when we say track "X" wasn't on Album Q, we mean it wasn't on the original release, not an expanded archival reissue 21 years later. FYI, 1969 20/20 track listing:

Side 1:
Do It Again (B. Wislon/Love)
I Can Hear Music (Barry/Spector/Greenwich)
Bluebirds Over The Mountain (Hickey)
Be With Me (D. Wilson/Manson)
All I Want To Do (D. Wilson/Kalinich)
The Nearest Faraway Place (Johnston)

Side 2:
Cotton Fields (Ledbetter)
I Went To Sleep (B Wilson/C. Wilson)
Time To Get Alone (B. Wilson)
Never Learn Not To Love (D. Wilson/Manson)
Our Prayer (B. Wilson)
Cabinessence (B. Wislon/Parks)

I don't have the MIC box, is this alt version the one from the Hawthorne CA 2-cd set? And is it different from the Warmth of the Sun CD? I don't have that cd either, so I wasn't sure.

Say, Surfer, one of the things that made me defend you was that you weren't rude to other people. Don't make me change sides. You can ask silly question as you like, but don't start insulting people.

All the same version with Brian singing lead.
