the Travoltas [their albums modern world , party and endless summer]
Sonic Surf City from sweden, the Surfin Lungs from the UK, Honeyrider [their albums sunshine skyway, and all systems go]

You didn't mention any of the greatest solid rock groups of the last 35 years, but to answer your question, "NO" I don't think it's ironic.  Irony has to do with something having an unexpected outcome, or something contrary to what is being suggested.  There's nothing Ironic about great bands being influenced by one of the greatest bands of all time (the Beach Boys).  You would fully expect any decent band to be a fan of the great stuff Brian Wilson did.... so no, I dont' think it's ironic at all.

It would be Ironic if all the greatest rock bands professed that they did NOT like the Beach Boys, but then made music that was derivitave of the Beach boys, etc.

I think it's ironic you find half of those bands you mentioned to be considered as great.  Other than the Ramones, I'm not quite familiar with the rest of them jokers.

There are much bigger bands that can be put on that list. REM, Sonic Youth,  Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Flaming Lips, High Llamas and Fleet Foxes to name a few.

Cool Band - The Travolta's....... check out their 'party' album........ especially the artwork..... look familiar? good 'surfy' album....

here they are doin some 'BB' tunes.

I think these guys are from the Netherlands.  they seem to incorporate a lot of 'the boy's' in their surf/punk style.

There are ZERO great rock bands in your list...the Ramones were pretty good in a not terribly accessible way...that's about it.
