Title: Prayers for our friends in the U.K.
Post by: Tricycle Rider on February 15, 2014, 08:47:51 PM
Just thinking about our friends in the U.K. and all the flooding going on. I hope everyone is alright over there.

Depends where you are - on Somerset, folks have been flooded since just after Christmas. I've got bad floods maybe ten miles away.

Absolutely. All the very, very best.

Comparatively dry here in Yorkshire but God has a permanent residence here so we rarely get it very bad.

Feel for the folk down south though, it looks pretty bad.  To me, it's like the climate change/sea-level rise maps are 100 years ahead of where they were forecast.

I'm high on a hill, somewhere in the frozen north - and we've been lucky. There doesn't seem to be an end to the rain and gales hitting the south-west coast.

I'm in Devon - it's fine where I am but the coast looks a bit dire..

The one and only good thing about living in Coventry is that it never floods.

Don't forget the naked chick on the horse, Paulos. Not every city has one of those.

Add another to the Yorkshire chorus.

Of course with the very best of wishes to those affected.

Yeah, although, you know, these Southern flooded areas are almost entirely Tory towns and villages and, well, if you are going to vote for a load of climate change-deniers then expect to see cuts to flood defenses... Guess this is the result of cutting out all the "green crap" as that egg-headed toff bell-end Cameron so pleasantly put it.

How many Yorkshire Smileys are there?  Suddenly I'm aware of four, which must be one of the highest regional concentrations outside o' CA!

Last year we had big floodings in Germany with some villages flooded for over 2 weeks. If this relieves you, I wasn't affected, only my jogging course was 3 ft under water for a week.

Hope most of our English friends get away that easily too.

I'm currently in the middle of a flood sandwich but luckily my town hasn't flooded. Yet! Thanks for the concern for us all though!

Hope you all dry up soon!

And while I'm at it, me and Kathy( with her headlights on) and the Beach Boys want to send a big shout-out to all the east coast( USA) folks getting more snow/ice than they know what to do with!

If Yorkshire was flooded and Kathy rocked up in her boat, I'd feel safe.

A lonely mancunian shout over here...

Aside from some very strong winds in and around Manchester last week, things have been okay.

I feel for people down south. May their recovery be fast and efficient.

Not a thing here [Though I haven't been here for 12 days], and as far as I know nothing back home in Gravesend either!
