Title: The Best "Off-Side" Music to Play in Public
Post by: Niko on January 23, 2014, 06:32:34 AM
So I have this bluetooth speaker, the TDK Life on Record. It's absolutely incredible, and gets VERY loud.
Today I walked around school with it in my backpack blasting Rise of the Valkyries, which got a lot of confused looks, but not at me. Playing from my backpack, it sounds like the music is being piped in from the ceiling. This means I can get away with doing this, for a while.

So I need some weird, off-side music to start playing. So far I have on my list of songs no one would expect to hear in the hallways:
I Ran - Flock Of Seagulls
Ride of the Valkyries
The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Hallelluya Chorus
Spring I
Pena - Captain Beefheart
Califronia Girls - Disco Celebration
Don't Worry Baby - Keith Moon Cover
The Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
Turning Japanese - The Vapors
MONK TIME - THE MONKS

Please help me add to the list <3

That sounds hilarious, Woodstock. I'm thinking Smart Girls, McCartney's Temporary Secretary, Dylan's Freight Train Blues and of course, my favourite:

"Pow R. Toc. H." - Pink Floyd
"I Want You to Sit on My Face" - Harry Nilsson

The Captain Beefheart potential is endless.

YES this is hilarious.

So far the funniest songs have been Ballroom Blitz, Valkyries, and Turning Japanese. They're not awful, just really weird to hear.

my favourite:

YES this is hilarious.

I think it needs to be that specific version as that's the best recording (of that section anyway) in my opinion.

In my opinion Turning Japanese IS awful. But that's just me!

Apparently the whole point of the song is he turns 'Japanese' during orgasm (squinting) as he looks at photos of the girl he likes.

They deny that that is really the meaning of the lyrics, but it would probably be too embarrassing to admit to writing a hit song about masturbation.

Oh okay I haven't heard that - whenever that song comes on I try and get away from it! Just awful in my mind.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was the meaning though - but really who knows? It's still a dreadful record regardless.

YES this is hilarious.

So far the funniest songs have been ..., Valkyries, ...
Wonder what you did find hilarious about it. All I hear is boring Slavic low-voiced chanting in the background and boring interchanges. At what 2nd or minute I mean.
Valkyries sounds like a flight of witсhes. Kind of, only not scary. Anyway, that's a cool tricky idea, Woodstock. I'd fool people in the street too if I had the tendency to follow all the trends, be it clothes or iPhone. Maybe I'd've used this song:

7-11 - Dance the Slurp (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px1Tn0LTqcs) - listen to the slurping noises solo.

Mama Rap by Bill Wyman.

An obscure song, thankfully. It's off his fourth solo album, Stuff from 1991.

If you do find it, and listen to it, you'll see why I recommend it  :-D
