Title: 30th Anniversary
Post by: Surfer on December 31, 2013, 08:06:35 PM
I do not know if anyone did a post about Dennis Wilson's 30th Anniversary!  If Capitol released a Box Set of Dennis Wilson and a home movies on DVD would anyone buy it?  I would and i would listen to the box set and watch the DVD on Dennis Wilson

I want a re-release of Pacific Ocean Blue...maybe with the Bambu tapes added as a bonus? That would be awesome.

I'd love to hear some of the Ecology stuff. I've only heard a track from it, and it has 250 Dennis overdubs. A high quality release would be much appreciated    ;)

AGD did a thread about it, he did it the day of.  Billy Hinche did some home movie things you should check em out  :-D.  My goal is to own all of them the one I have now is "On The Road With The Beach Boys 1974"  There's a lot of Denny and Carl in that  ;D

I would buy the box set, but not listen to it. I would illegally download the DVD, but not watch it. I would just wubble and wubble and never take showerz.

I don't think the anniversary of a person's tragic death is something to celebrate.  Commemorate sure but I think it would be in bad taste to sell CDs to commemorate one's passing.  I think the Made in California set was already more of a tribute to Dennis than anyone could have asked for anyways.

I want a re-release of Pacific Ocean Blue...maybe with the Bambu tapes added as a bonus?

Already happened in 2008.

And maybe they can finally release that 'Wouldn't it be Nice to Live Again' song everyone keeps going on about.

:lol he was probably being sarcastic in response to Surfer. AGD pointed out that he had posted something on the original 30 years thread :-D and now he's acting like no one made a tribute to Denny for the 30th anniversary  :-\........or maybe he just forgot  ::)

So, Surfer has unequivocally established himself as either:

1 - someone with serious short-term memory loss or...

2 - a troll.

On the evidence of some of his past posts, I'm inclined more and more towards #2.

It's obvious "Surfer" is either mentally damaged or is just being an piece of sh*t troll. The fact that he hasn't been suspended or banned from the board while others who actually contributed have been is pretty much BS.

I believe the guy to be a troll but he has some Mods' support. Maybe they know different

Maybe he is a Beach Boys affiliate, posing as a strange troll figure to test Beach Boys fans. The nicer we are, the more stuff they will release.

Surfer is a conspiracy.

maybe he's just a mod trolling under a different name

Why would a MOD want to troll?  Looking for what?
And if the MODs use disguises, couldn't they also be sending us PMs in those disguises?
This seems to be getting serious.  I think surfer understands English.  The MODs need to come on this thread and explain, or we need to take this to "ask the MODs" thread.

Jason said that in one of the threads when he was telling folks to back off surfer.

Well, you did post on the original 30th anniversary thread.....but the board has been peaceful lately so we should all keep it that way, whether this was trolling or not  ;D.   :thumbsup

This has nothing to do with supporting a certain member. Yes, Surfer can come accross as enthousiastically naive in his posts. But replying stating someone is mentally ill, is not the way to respond. If you don't like his topics, simply ignore them.

Again, fair comment and, since this forum has been a little beacon of puppy dogs, butterflies, sweetness and light in the absence (enforced or voluntary) of sundry posters, I feel the application of a smidgeon of selective benign neglect is a wise one.  :grouphug

I wonder if giving free education  lessons was party of AGD's purpose. In any case, nice to know you're getting smarter!

I've not become smarter, though - only my knowledge increased. :o

Actually, there's one book on the Beach Boys I gave up reading in the middle because the writer felt the necessity to show off on his vocabulary to an extense that I got fed up with looking up several words per sentence. Gladly, that's a big exception. Usually it's one word in 4 or 5 pages.

Did you check whether I counted the words right in your original post? :-D

I think of those four words I will remember about one in my long term memory... I'm not young enough to remember them without special effort. :) (But hey, before I clicked the post button, I looked up whether I had translated the German word "Langzeitgedächtnis" correctly into English and found I was just one hyphen short! ;))

I'm guessing that was Tim White's.  :)

Oh, and Micha ? Your English puts my German to shame.

Just checked it - spot on, Andrew. :) It's the only book I know that features an image of the duophonic SMiLE cover though. There may be others, but it's the only one I have.

Why, thank you very much! I'm flattered! :spin I've got two big advantages over you there though: English has a way less complicated grammar than German, and you haven't been forced for nearly 20 years to read German articles and books about your favorite band due to them not being available in your first language. That's why my English has reached a certain level.
