Title: Atlantis Rising
Post by: Moon Dawg on December 30, 2013, 07:38:23 PM
From Brad Elliot's SURF'S UP: The Beach Boys On Record 1961-81 page 284

 June 1972- "Atlantis Rising"

"Mike Love was reportedly set to work on a symphonic album, ATLANTIS RISING, which would tell 'the story of the rise in consciousness of man.' The project was to be a collaboration between Mike, Brian and 'someone who can score a symphony.' "

OK, it never came out. Is there anything else to know? If any actual songs were realized for the project we'd have likely heard them, or heard of them. Just a fleeting whim of Mike's?

Curiously, two years previously there was mention made of a Mike Love project called "Atlantis Suite" in the May 30 1970 issue of Music Now.

Maybe this was the project he was talking about in the Goldmine interview in the 90s!  :-D
