Hello, Zach! I have not heard the initial take, but I think you could easily remake it again on your own, your voice is mighty good! That said, I liked the contrast between the verses & "refrain", it takes a lot of effort to sing with a sore throat, which Ego did. Combine it with the laidback melody & nifty arrangement, and here you've got nice little gem.

Questions: 1) does this song really have a chorus? Sounds more like forerunner to it.

2) Were you tap-dancing in front of the recording device or is it an instrument kicking in the 2nd verse?

3) What musicians inspired you to write the song? I for one think of NRBQ & Randy Newman. Correct me if it's wrong & thanks.

This is a great cover! Your voices sound good next to each other, and the production is very good. Nice 'n' shiny.

I didn't have a sore throat...at least not when I did the vocal takes for this track!

I didn't have a chance to listen to this the first time around but I checked it out today.  I'm not a big fan of the original, but this sounds great.  You two have done a really good job, I like the vocals and production.
