Interesting list! Title: Re: David Bowie's 100 favourite books Post by: Gabo on October 03, 2013, 03:19:38 PM pretentious list, the kind I would expect from a pseudo-intellectual charlatan like Mr. Bowie (love his music, though)

My favorite books are the Anne of Green Gables books and I don't care who knows it. >:( Title: Re: David Bowie's 100 favourite books Post by: hypehat on October 06, 2013, 03:59:45 PM pretentious list, the kind I would expect from a pseudo-intellectual charlatan like Mr. Bowie (love his music, though) Yeah, f*** art, man. I hate clever things. I mean, it has Viz and Spike Milligan on it! Title: Re: David Bowie's 100 favourite books Post by: RangeRoverA1 on October 09, 2013, 09:34:09 AM Not a fan of Bowie as a singer-songwriter, but I always thought of him as someone with the high IQ level. This assorted list shows it - there are variety of genres & styles of literature, be it entertaining, scientific, publicistic etc. I wonder if one of the books is inspiration behind a certain song?
Interesting to note there're only 5-6 examples concerning music, with 95 being sth. else. I would think of the opposite, since David's a musical artist. Cool to see also S. Milligan amongst the more serious authors, gotta love his witty wordplays (even mentioned some of his works in the "Favorite Books" thread)! In sum, thanks to Smilin Ed H for the link! Fascinating stuff. |
