But everything he's done since just doesn't do it for me. I think some of the stuff on All This Useless Beauty is really nice and I heard a few nice (if retro) things on Momofuku, but overall he just doesn't really do it for me anymore. I think he's a bit unfocused and that's why a lot of his stuff doesn't really hit anymore. I think that instead of doing a different genre experiment every album he might be better served trying to reel it all in to a cohesive album. Instead, it seems like he will do a classic Attractions style record (When I Was Cruel, Momofuku), baroque or piano type stuff (Painted From Memory, North), or folkier/country type stuff (National Ransom), whereas in the old days he would just synthesize all his interests into great records like Imperial Bedroom.
