I'm as guilty as a lot of other fans of underestimating his contribution to the group in the early years, it's nice he is getting some recognition now.

Like if during the reunion, somebody had said that the band would eventually split in two, I would have bet on Dave going with Mike's band rather than Brian's.

AGD- my thanks to you and Jon Stebbins for (continually) confirming David is a great, great guy - that's the impression I get from the way David communicates in interviews (including this one and his fantastic involvement in the Denny (Real BB) BBC doc). Not having met David, I can only rely on what I see/read and insights provided by the genuine experts here. I was thrilled to get a copy of his recent solo effort and got a big kick out of the enthusiatic email he later sent with links to his prefered mixes. A real treat and really engaging from a fan POV. My line about Al was a dumb joke (I'm full of 'em) about Al's mythical early years - the true story beautifully and generously clarified in your "In the beginning..." piece on Bellagio (which I've read many times). Apologies for any miscommunication on my part - it's never my intention to vex/annoy when I come here; just to learn and wave my freak flag - thanks again - Alan |
