Title: Terry Melcher sang on Pet Sounds?
Post by: Magic Transistor Radio on September 19, 2013, 07:32:21 AM
I was watching a Charles Manson documentary that I found on Netflix and when they talked about Terry Melcher and his accomplishments, they mentioned that he sang on Pet Sounds. I had never heard this before. Is this true?

According to Brad Elliot's Pet Sounds Sessionography, Terry played tambourine on a few tracks.  Some of Terry's obituaries claimed him to be a background vocalist & even keyboard player on some tracks, but I don't think that's ever been confirmed.

I'd heard he sang backing vocals on the extended accapella ending of God Only Knows, can't remember where I read that.

I'm pretty that I read somewhere that he sings on the alternate, a Capella ending to GOK

Hello ?  No one here got The Pet Sounds Sessions ?  He's all over the alternate ending of "GOK".

Haven't listened to it in years and to be honest, I never could hear his voice.

Listen to some Rip Chords songs, then listen to "GOK" again. His voice is as plain as a pikestaff.

In all and equal seriousness, anyone who can't hear Melcher's voice all over that tag has serious hearing problems: it's the one that doesn't sound anything like any Beach Boy.
