Title: Re: Brian Wilson on Songwriting Post by: Cyncie on September 18, 2013, 12:52:43 PM Yeah, I guess when it's over, it's over! My other favorite was this one:
Interviewer: Is there pressure to compete with yourself? Brian: No, actually not. How could you think that? I just wonder what he was thinking the interviewer meant! Title: Re: Brian Wilson on Songwriting Post by: donald on September 18, 2013, 01:08:31 PM This reminds me of the Terri Gross Fresh Air interview a few years back. Brian seemed to mishear or misprocess the questions. I have always heard he is a tough interview. I did hear one a while back, a recording of an interview where the interviewer seemed to put Brian at ease and draw him out. The interviewer would fleshout the responses or paraphrase and Brian would add some more comments. More support and fewer open ended questions seemed to work.
Title: Re: Brian Wilson on Songwriting Post by: Andrew G. Doe on September 18, 2013, 01:22:12 PM Golden rule of interviewing Brian, as imparted to me by David Leaf last millennium: never ask him a question that can be answered by "yes" or "no". Because he will. ;D

Because he will. ;D Even then, though, Brian can be ruthlessly efficient in interviews. When I interviewed him back in 2009, I tried to have a bunch of questions meant to draw him out -- and he still managed to finish up in about six minutes. http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/six-minutes-with-brian-wilson Title: Re: Brian Wilson on Songwriting Post by: ontor pertawst on September 18, 2013, 01:58:57 PM Ha! Thanks for the repost, worth it just to read "Well, my synthesizer sounds so good that it makes me write good songs."

You have such an amazingly huge catalog to choose from. How do you decide which songs to include in your live set? Well, we haven't gotten to that point yet, but I'm sure we'll think of something. I loved this line!http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/six-minutes-with-brian-wilson You've released quite a few albums and DVDs over the last 10 years. What's inspired you to be so productive? "Well, my synthesizer sounds so good that it makes me write good songs." :lol |
