Btw, it dawned on me that Brian could cover The Residents' "Birthday Boy", doing high-pitched spoken bits in the "Magic Transistor Radio" manner. I can easily imagine him repeating the "Happy, happy Birth-day to meee..." lines.

I think it's just a bad picture. Maybe he had a long day. Brian looked really good during the tour last year and I've seen pictures from 2013 where he looks better than he has in a long time.

What is he eating? ice cream and baked beans and nettles?

Yes. you eat the nettles first, then the ice cream to cool the stings, then the beans to er....I don't know.

With the loss of the great James Gandolfini knocking me for six today it's really great to have Brian and so many visionaries still around today. By all accounts Brian should be long gone but some how he's still around and making music.

Cracks me up. I was just reading this article about Brian at Oceanway:

Wilson asks a studio engineer to place an order for "supershots" – a viscous concoction of wheatgrass, spiraling with a natural herb sauce and cayenne pepper, with a lime chaser. The rest of the group gags to get it down, but Wilson savors his. "I love the energy! I feel great already!" he says. "You think if I give them, like $100 they'll deliver eight or 10 of these to my house?"

Good congratuvibrulations to Brian, who made the most important music in my life. Really, Bach, Mozart and Beethoven are bowing humbly somewhere in the back seats.

I know this is a few days late but words can not express how much enjoyment this mans music has brought me over the last 3 or 4 years, his most incredible body of work will be remembered years, decades and centuries after all the other hacks and those who undermined his music are long gone. I love The Beatles and The Beach Boys equally but have never felt a connection with Paul McCartney or just about anyone outside of my closest family and friends quite like I have with Brian. I've never met him and probably never will but he has that type of socially awkward, shy and melancholly personality that I see in myself. I feel I owe a great depth to this man for God Only Knows alone, his music helps me through the good times and the bad times, god bless you Brian Wilson you are forever a powerful presence in my life.  :)

Sometimes I do wish he could live forever, the fact that he's still here, writing, producing and singing makes it seem like all is well in the world sometimes.

Yeah sorry about that!  I decided to come back to the forum after drifting away from it for a few months. I wanted to change my profile picture and afterwards saw I had pretty much stole your picture! I thought bugger it I'll change it in the morning but you caught me out!  ;D

So in the Wagner/Nietzsche dust-up, which one of them is Brian and which one is Mike??  :afro

Brian Wilson.  Not just still standing at 71, not just still touring, but working on three different albums of original material at once.

That is a damn good place to be -- and one none of us could even have imagined as recently as five years ago!
