According to vegaschatter.com, the Beach Boys Good Vibrations restaurant, that was to open in Bally's Las Vegas, was cancelled. There was talk of making it a chain if it was successful, but they decided not to go ahead with it. The fact that the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas' Beach Boys musical "Surf" was very unsuccessful and lost millions of dollars may have been a factor. They may have decided the public isn't that into the Beach Boys as a theme.

There's a video of the slot machine in action on YouTube.  It's manufactured by Bally's and has been installed at the Hard Rock in Florida and other casinos.

Well I'm not one bit surprised the restaurant fell through. People just do not know what to do with the beach boys or how to market them! Their music is flawless (a few errors a long the way), but outside the music honestly they suck. I just watched the YouTube video for their slot machine. Not bad.. love the graphics, the music, the concert footage. But yet again type casts them as if they were only around from 1962-1965. The beach boys are great so I expect greatness. Haven't seen that for sometime..

The musical sucked and got panned critically, that's why it failed.

Prolly had no help from brian and the boys.. Look at the success of jersey boys. With the beach boys history the way it is, there play could have been massive!

Las Vegas tends to publicize ideas for themed businesses that don't always come into being.  Proposals are publicized to get investors excited and if the money or interest isn't there, the idea gets scrapped.  There are so many eateries in Vegas and it was overbuilt prior to the recession. If the Beach Boys want a restaurant, they may have to do it themselves. Brian Wilson was supposed to have his own restaurant chain, too, and it never happened.

Well, that's why it failed.  It wasn't a show about their history like Jersey Boys.  They just took a bunch of Beach Boys songs and half-assed a bland "story" around them.  I didn't see it but just looking at what it was makes me think it was doomed from the start.  And yeah, none of the Beach Boys had anything to do with it really though Van Dyke Parks was credited as a "musical consultant" whatever that is.

Try the Jardine melt on rye. Delicious.

EDIT: Sweet Jesus. I can't explain this one but feel I must add it:

Sometimes I'm scrolling down, see a post while not seeing the username, and automatically know Mr. pertawst was the one who posted it.

The musical "Good Vibrations" was on Broadway in NYC and a totally different show than "Surf, the Musical," which is the show that opened at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Although both shows bombed, they had different authors.  GV was some years before Surf the Musical. You would have thought that having the first BB show bombed would have taught them something, but apparently not. They were similar in that they created dance sequences around Beach Boys songs, and neither had a biographical element like "Jersey Boys" does. I sort of doubt they'll every do a biographical Beach Boys musical with two different failed shows behind them.

They should instead open up a store called H.E.L.P.

Don't forget the egg white omelette.  It helps to balance off the big steaks and birthday cake.

One thing left out: coffee made on the ratio of ten ounces of Tasters Choice per cup.

Anyone consuming a menu like the above would be good for absolutely nothing afterwards except hitting the one armed bandits and video poker/blackjack for 8 or 9 straight hours. Which means Brian could franchise such an eatery to every last hotel/casino in Vegas, name his own price, and wind up richer than Steve Wynn.

Ah yes! Served with a shot of vodka as the perfect digestif. (The bottle of vodka is left on the table, of course, though the patron is forced to promise to only indulge in one shot.)

And let's not forget the sides...

Sides

Bag of marshmallows
Reddi wip served with can
Loaded nachos

Each band member could have a signature sandwich plate, like the Stage Deli in New York.

The Mike Love: One pound of thick-sliced ham stacked on plain white bread

The Brian Wilson: Peanut butter and jelly with bananas and a side of whipped cream for dipping, between two waffles

The Al Jardine: Bowl of cole slaw, one slice of dry toast on the side

The Bruce Johnston: A quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog served on a hamburger roll

Al Sardine's can o' sardines. Eat 5 pounds and get a free "Keep It Clean with Al Sardine" shirt. Comes two sizes too small.

Served in a pair of shorts surely?

Another contender for Mike's signature dish, a twist on the french classic

Coq-a-mo

Chicken slow cooked in bile and resentment.

"Its finger litigating good"
