It's already been posted in the "TWGMTR follow-up" thread. But I guess it's a collaboration that deserves its own thread for sure. :3d As to what's going on: he might be guest-starring on Brian's new solo album (same as Don Was & Jim Keltner). I doubt it's going to be a Beach Boys record.

They are doing a good job of trying to build anticipation...

The idea of Brian working with guest stars brings back horrific memories of GIOMH but whatever Brian does next must be an improvement on that.

Stars and Stripes Vol 2:

Heavy rock cover versions with The Beach Boys providing harmonies to accompany lengthy bass, guitar and drum solos.

Mike'll also be doing an extended tambourine break on a cover of Hi Ho Silver Lining.

It would still be better than Volume 1.

(Especially if it includes a Pantera cover of Noble Surfer.)

Brian was so so so impressed with Jeffs instrumental cover of 'Surfs Up' at the 'Music Cares Tribute'  that he has asked him to cover it for 'Any Musician Who's In Town And Cheap - Reimagines Brian Wilson'   ;)

Brian and Jeff Beck are both featured artists in Rock Camp this week in Vegas. Their collab could have something to do with that event, rather than be for a new album.

I think Billy Hinsche has hinted at such on Facebook.

Yep, I think he looks pretty relaxed and happy in most of these shots that have been coming out of the studio.  It's good to see.  I hope he is having fun!

Funny, Brian would seem to be the one in better health.

Looks like "Pleasure Island" is going to get a healthy dose of ROCK?

I'd like to hear what sort of instrumental pieces Brian and Jeff could come up with...could be pretty awesome really.

Vinnie Colaiuta is one of the greatest living drummers, but even with the best will in the world it's hard to imagine Brian producing something that gives him space to stretch out and do his thing.  I'm intrigued, though.

According to Wikipedia, Tal Winkenfeld has regularly worked with Jeff Beck. I wonder why Brian's band seem to have been mostly sidelined? I know Scott Bennett posted on Facebook that he had played on some tracks last week but haven't heard anyone else from Brian's band mentioned.

I bet they're working on a new song for the rock camp thing that they're both teaching at. Maybe some sort of collaborative thing where they can show the process to the students.

A 'supergroup' recording last month with Joe Walsh, Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, Keb'Mo... and Beck, Was, Keltner and Wilkenfeld. Looking around more about that, it looks like Bill Withers was also involved. And this was recorded for Capitol.

It wouldn't surprise me if Brian was guesting on that in some way...

They're really rolling out the updates too. I hope an announcement of some sort will be out soon!

The really exciting thing is in these pics Brian is looking a lot healthier than he has in awhile.  And Tal is really freaking hot.
