Title: BAD tour 2103 Post by: Andrew G. Doe on April 02, 2013, 11:15:07 PM Maybe I've missed something in my catching up, but currently there's the following dates listed, either on the Bloo or by the venues themselves:
7/20 The Grand at The Golden Nugget, Atlantic City, NJ 7/21 Stage AE, Pittsburgh, PA 7/25 Fraze Pavilion, Kettering, OH 7/26 Ravinia Festival, Highland Park, IL 7/27 Weesner Family Amphitheater, Apple Valley, MN 10/20 Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, CA The MN date is at a zoo, apparently, and the Joisey date is of course a casino. Jus' sayin'... Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on April 02, 2013, 11:17:19 PM 2103? sh*t, I ain't gonna live long enough to see that :(
Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: ontor pertawst on April 02, 2013, 11:17:51 PM I think that was covered way back in March 2102. Insert oh-my-gawd-who-can-ever-believe-it-wow-we-certainly-don't-already-know-that outrage here, hopefully that'll cheer you up.
Will there be chicken wings, tho? Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: Shady on April 02, 2013, 11:33:26 PM I got no problem with Brian playing casinos and "Zoo's". I do have a problem with "The Beach Boys" playing such venues..
Let's not go down that road again ;D Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: SurfRiderHawaii on April 03, 2013, 12:58:36 AM Know you've been away, already a thread and discussion on all this on another thread, yours.

I do have a problem with "The Beach Boys" playing such venues.. Let's not go down that road again ;D Shady - come on! There was a primal scream with the "casino" thing in the not-so-remote past. The reality is that the entertainment business model has changed, and has been a threat to older community-based theaters. Casinos are the new "mall" for one-stop shopping, and dining. People were on a serious rant about "snob-zoning" venues. All the headliners go there. Going to the people, wherever they are is what music business is all about. And, I hate casinos and the vice that flows from them. They played casinos for C50. And: Yes, Andrew (Doe) - welcome back! ;) Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: Lowbacca on April 03, 2013, 06:40:20 AM Okay you guys, whaddayathink - any chance of the BAD crossing the pond this summer? :-\

Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: Ram4 on April 03, 2013, 10:29:31 AM Cool, they're playing the Ravinia Festival in my town. It's not actually a festival, but a beautiful outdoor venue with a pavilion, a huge lawn and people normally bring picnics on the lawn and hang out there. There is also a restaurant. It even has it's own train station for people coming from Chicago. It's definitely an upscale place. Everyone from classical, jazz, new age, world, oldies rock, new rock, bluegrass, country, blues, you name it plays there. My high school graduation was held there a long, long time ago. ;D

Do you mean a falling out? Hey as they are guests anyway that could happen before gig one. As was the case a few years back with Al. Time will tell. Title: Post by: zachrwolfe on April 03, 2013, 06:22:40 PM

Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: the captain on April 07, 2013, 08:44:26 AM FYI, the show at the zoo isn't as lame as it may seem to people unfamiliar with it: the Minnesota Zoo hosts great shows every year. This summer will also include big names like Joan Baez, Dr. John, and Richard Thompson--hardly the cheesy cheerleaders Beach Boys image I know was debated in the Great Casino Rants of other threads. (Though others definitely are maybe a bit more, um, well, if you can't say something nice...) The Monkees reunion tour was there last year (or the year before or whenever that happened). Previous performances have included Florence + the Machine, the Suburbs, Derek Trucks...a wide range of things. And plenty of local and regional acts that lean hipster if anything play there as well: Chris Koza/Rogue Valley, Jeremy Messersmith, Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Michelles.
It's booked by a company that handles quite a few diverse venues in the area, including theaters, clubs, and festivals. Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: Lonely Summer on April 10, 2013, 10:43:54 AM I love that it is the BAD tour....which brings to mind the sight of Brian dancing around the stage, as he did in the Landy years, hollering "Hoo! Chum On! Chum On! I'm Bad!" Bet David could contribute some cool guitar to this spectacle. And Al could change his underwear.

You could call it a warmup for a tour, but it seems kinda dim to do that during the Summer, a season which I hear these lads have written a few songs about... But yes, this is very curious. Guess we have to wait until someone interviews them during the tour seeing as they're doing no press now (cos of the live album?) Title: Re: BAD tour 2103 Post by: Wirestone on May 29, 2013, 02:39:44 PM Wondering if any more dates are going to be announced? Almost June. I wouldn't even call this a tour. I've been wondering that myself. I can think of a few possibilities. 1.) The new album has been consuming Brian's time, and there will be promo commitments he'll have to undertake in the late summer or fall. Therefore, the summer dates are just a bit of a mini-tour. 2.) They couldn't get bookers interested. 3.) Brian really didn't want to do more. He's taken years off from touring before. 4.) They are still planning extra dates for the late summer / early fall, but have yet to announce them. |
