I was feeling a little creative last night and decided to make my own "mix" of "Isn't It Time".  I liked elements from both the album and single versions of the song so I mixed 'em together.  I'd be happy to share this with the board but I don't think there is a conventional (and legal) way to do so.  If you wish to hear it, any suggestions for sharing it are welcome.

I was just listening to the song today and thinking that someone should do this. Looking forward to hearing it.

I could try uploading it to SoundCloud, but I don't know how long it would be take for them to shut it down. 

I don't think they'll shut it down if you put it up somewhere, it's kind of fan art and you're clearly not trying to harm the band by doing it.

About 1997 or 1998, Usher's "You make me wanna" was a huge song.  Around L.A., they started playing the Daz Dillinger remix of it.  It was pretty cool, there was a great verse by Daz in the middle of the song, it was mixed a little differently, etc.  It actually was getting pretty popular, then they figured out that Daz had just bought the CD, cut it up on his soundboard a little bit, added a verse over it, then sent a pretty  crappy copy of it to a couple radio stations.  They assumed it was legitimate and were playing the hell out of it, he'd never even MET Usher, much less got permission to insert himself onto one of his songs.

Well I suppose I could send it to someone privately and if they want to spread it around, so be it. 

One rule of thumb...if you upload it somewhere like Soundcloud or YouTube, and state that it is for 'study purposes only' and don't have a download link, it's usually fine. I've done that many times in the past.

Well I tried uploading it to SoundCloud but they immediately slapped me with an email detecting it was copyrighted.  So I had to take it down.  Any other suggestions?

I would like to hear it (although it is a Blue Öyster Cult monday for me  :-D) - "Isn't It Time" is an awesome tune.

I post all my remixed Beach Boy songs on youtube. They'll send you a notice saying the song is owned by BRI or something, then they'll slap an ad next to it to make money (they'll also block it in some countries though).

Look at it this way: the more attention that song gets the more likely they'll make money from it....they're not going to sue you because you're a devoted fan!

Hey an extended version. Nice! My 2 cents is I still have a gripe about 70 year olds going steady though. ;)

I still think that song was better than 'Radio' and should have been pushed a bit harder last year.

I will keep this up for a limited time so check it while you can.

Funny you should mention that; I was kicking around the idea of making a super long and repetitive version. Can we say extended dance mix?!  :afro

Usually at that age, everything is UNsteady.

They deleted my fucking account in the midst of "Rid-YouTube-of-all-Smile-stuff"-a-thon 2011 and, I frigging swear, lifted an idea or two off of my "Surf's Up" mix (ideas that were exclusive to my mix prior to TSS) in the process. So yeah, don't be so sure you'll just get some ads and links slapped onto your video.

What was unique to your SU mix? I can't imagine how much variation one could possibly do with that song besides overlay the demo vocals onto part 1 backing track (make them drag on the chorus a little if you wish :wink), use the demo for part 2, and then the '71 coda, mix it all in mono. Were you the jerk who gave them the idea to make the chorus vocals lag a little behind the beat?
