Title: Anyone else here who digs PF Sloan? Post by: kwan_dk on March 23, 2013, 11:46:19 AM I seem to go into a PF Sloan frenzy every second or third year or so. And right now my stereo is yet again churning out a no-holds-barred Sloan fest! :lol I can literally listen to all those great Sloan-Barri classics and his equally fine solo recordings for days on end. Anyone else here who likes his stuff? I personally think he's so much more than the poor man's Dylan (or Beach Boys clone / Beatles clone / 'insert any other 60s pop icon' clone) some tend to call him. Sure, he, and often together with Steve Barri, was one heck of a musical chameleon but I've rarely heard anyone do it better or more refreshingly than him. Of his solo sides THIS overlooked gem is one of my alltime favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzRI8XM7m98 There's also a really cool, low-key demo version of this song... I think this is a pop masterpiece....written by Sloan, sung by Tillotson, 1967.

I can't decide whether I prefer Tillotson's take or the stunning Sloan demo on the Trousdale Demoes compilation. That comp blew my mind when I got it years ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_N6x4_yUzI Title: Re: Anyone else here who digs PF Sloan?
