Guess Ive been here long enough to venture posting a thread. I haven't seriously followed the BB
for very long but I am trying to make up for the "lost years" and scarfing up all kinds of stuff to
feed my need.  :smokin

BB Media, posters, clothing, whatever -- If you wanna share with the board post away.
And it doesn't matter if its not "recently acquired".

If this has been done before, oh well - somebody will post that too I'm sure and point the way.

Me, highlights of 2013:

1) a near mint VigOtone Smile 3 LP with the poster and cue sheets

2) BWPS mint/sealed RTI test pressing (heavy vinyl)

I bought 4 very cool paintings off eBay lil while ago.  Abstract covers of holland, pet sounds, smiley smile and summer days.  Look great hung up!

Nothing official, but last Christmas my girlfriend made me a Murry Wilson snowglobe. That picture of him with a pipe. She put a little Xmas hat on him and it says, "I'm a genius, too". I'd like to think i'm the only person in the world with a Murry Wilson snowglobe.

That's a good one!  Vigotone released that SMiLE set (ST-9002) in 1993. The three records are red, blue, and green vinyl, right? Does yours have printed labels or plain white ones? The other one I picked up around that time was the Vigotone (110-111) SMiLE 2-CD set.  Came with a 60 page booklet and a poster.  After that there was rumored to be a SMiLE box set from Viotone in the works, but it never materialized. I remember people saying the 2-CD set was like a "Sampler" of things to come. There sure was a lot on there for it to be a sampler! I think the material didn't come forth like he expected or something else happened; I don't know.

Vigotone was run by a guy out of New Orleans. He was busted around 2001/2002 and had to pay 50K to the RIAA!  He sure put out some good Beatles & Beach Boys boots!

The box set sampler was the Heroes and Vibrations boot.  Unfortunately (for us) he was busted before he could release it.

How much did you end up paying for the 3 LP leggo?  Its value seems to have dropped considerably in the last few years.  Mine was listed for sale for months before someone finally took it off my hands.  It wasn't long ago that it would have been grabbed within a few hours.

Heroes & Vibrations was the sampler?  Consisting of 21 tracks of Good Vibrations and Heroes & Villains?

Yeah, according to the liner notes reproduced on the Vigotone fan site.  I only have a downloaded copy of this release myself.

Yes w/ Plain labels (were these early or late pressings?) and sometimes I lose track of whats what, trying to put LPs back in the sleeve in the right order helps.

Seems like it was around $45,  but shipped from GB total closer to $60. The jacket is pretty thin and flimsy, I was happy they packed it really well so it came intact, no smushed up corners or bends.

The pressings are surprisingly fine quality -- of course that doesnt make acetates sound cleaner, but thats part of the charm and I am sure collectors in the 1990s were grateful to get these recordings of the sessions. I wondered if "Brian's Smile Session Party" was unique to VigOtone releases?  I used some of it for this "tape swap" (where we mail blanks in a rotation and you get your tape back after others in the swap record on it) and guys are saying, Whats this weird Beach Boys stuff, where did you get this? lol.  ::)

I wonder if that 50K fine wiped out all his profits?

I downed a lot of um ...fan-produced things at Beach Yard, they have a huge collection. Everything else
via torrent (like Unsurpassed Masters which is still seeded but takes a long time to complete)

Someday, I would like to own the original CDs but they are tough to come by (and pricey).

Wow.  Five years ago it wasn't uncommon to see this set selling for $300.

Well, Heroes & Vibrations came out in 1998. The 'company' released stuff until 2001, when he got busted. I remember waiting for a Smile box set to come out, but it never did - presumably because he didn't have a chance to get more material in those 2-3 years before he was popped(?). Or Sea Of Tunes beat him to the punch with Unsurpassed Masters 16 & 17 and he figured, "I can't do better than that".

Dang. Guess I stole it. Slap the cuffs on me.  :police:

I will have to make amends by getting overcharged for other stuff in future!

Found a cool Brian Wilson concert poster for $6. It has a colored drawing of BW playing a guitar (?).  It looks cool in my office.

Not recent, but I reckon my top BBs piece of memorabilia is a 2004 Smile tour programme signed by all the band, Brian, and Van Dyke Parks, with the lyrics to the megaphone section of On A Holiday hand written by Nick Waluska, on opening night at the RFH.

Agree-great work, John. My best ebay buy was a guy selling the BWPS Amazon boxset with the tiny figurines in the lid. Not only is it one of the rarer ones signed on the front but it also signed on the cardboard CD cover, the actual CD cover and the booklet. I purchased it for £19.99!!

I've also got a lager SMiLE 94 poster signed by Brian, from the Newcastle gig. Should I eBay… nah!

I think I know the one you mean. At the RFH, I bought the circular poster with Brian in the middle but bottled getting it signed and opted for the programme instead. I really wish now I'd stuck to my guns. Oh well, hopefully Brian will be back over this year and I can take it along

Actually it might have been well in order, given that the Good Vibes boxset the year before had a put a goodly amount of the material officially out there for the first time.

Might have enabled Brian to deal with those demons a lot sooner than he did, and with the BBs as the relevant band in support.

With the ghost of Smile 66/67 then behind him, all sorts of material could have subsequently been investigated in the vaults and a set like TSS could have been presented in the late '90s…

Which means we'd now be looking forward to the 20CD/5DVD/4LP/8x45rpm anniversary deluxe collectors edition next year!

More likely we'd be getting that collection for SIP, tho, or what we are getting: constant "new" greatest hits releases

Good points-also with Carl there and Alan in the band, the vocal blend would have been 'truer' to the original recordings. Wasn't there a few tracks that were found between the GV boxset and TSS? We know Fire was left of the GV boxset (along with LHRW) but I wonder how much material the compilers had in 93 compared to 2011.

Mainly (because they have nice laminated front covers) I am working on a collection of the BB UK LPs

Very cool...I have a copy of that lyric sheet that must have come from you, John (thank you).  IIRC, at the premiere we sat down the row from each other in the Box/Annexe seats above the side of the stage (do I have that right?).  I was very fortunate to have both BW & VDP sign my Feb. 20 ticket that week.

Thanks Les… you might be right regarding the seating; I struggle to recall where I was each night (struggle to recall where I was LAST night sometimes!).

But yes it would have been left side of the stage as I distinctly recall getting VDPs' autograph: I had to slip down to the stalls and bluff my way past a security guy with some tale about urgently needing to see an old friend (well, partially true… I'd chatted briefly with VDP back on Sept 24, 2000, when I snuck backstage after BW's Pet Sounds show at the Hollywood Bowl!).  VDP was, as always, gracious and signed with a smile and, if I recall, a quick self-portrait… would have to dig it out of the vault to double check that aspect!

The copy would have come via Peter Reum, who whisked the sleeve away briefly post-show and came back with photocopies of those lyrics which he handed out to a few folks.  Good man Peter!

Good man Peter indeed!  And great Hollywood Bowl story!  Yes, I also got down to the stalls to get VDP's autograph, along with other fans, after the show.  He was very gracious, but I remember him being very focused on the "Surf's Up" lyric page of the concert program someone opened for him to sign, as if he had not seen it before (and he may well not have).  I always figured he was thinking "'handsome mannered baton'?  WTF? It's 'handsome man and baton,' you idiots!!"  

A glorious week it was.

Not exactly BBs, BUT , cool and close enough for me:  Went to a thrift store Friday, and while there were NO rock items of any sort, I was thinking to myself " what a dummy  is the person that passed on this 8 track" !!  ( I paid 25 cents; as mint as mint can be, save a little slip cover wear)

I rarely play anything vintage, but I did check it and it sounds perfect. 

My connection buddy just sent me all his issues of Add Some Music, such an interesting read! I'm not sure when ASM stopped publishing but I gotta nice stack of issues to catch up on. I think the book ASMRYD just scratches the surface. I think I have 18 issues, starting DEC 78 to Dec 84.

just checked my database... and to my shock I noticed that until last weekend I already bought or got 89 LP's, 24 singles, 39 CD's, and a laserdisc this year, all BB, solo, related or containing coverwork ...

- a cheap German various artists collection called "20 Super Pop Hits", which includes an edited version of Surfin's U.S.A. (live from the 1972 In Concert album)
- a cheap soundtrack album called Sunburn, which includes Lady Lynda
- promotional album "Capitol Single Release No. 1114 (X-PRO 4400) which includes Gettin' Hungry and Devoted To You
- a EX+ copy of a South African first issue of Sail On Sailor (just like in the USA there were 2 issues): no stickers on the labels, which is a rarity

Not a Beach Boys item per se, but it is Beach Boys related. I recently found a promo copy of  the "See The Light" b/w "Get Your Mind Made Up" 45 by The Flame. Found it in the very back of a giant bin of 45's at my local record store. Only payed about 4 bucks for it, so I'd say I made it off alright.

Before that I got a 2 track 10.5 reel of Pet Sounds "Live" supposedly from BBC - the cuts are not the same ones
as the CD/DVD and it sounds like an unedited Pet Sounds, but no encore (Good Vibrations?)

Got a 120 basic card set of Beach Boys cards as an early Christmas present on Sunday night. I've already got all of them in plastic covers and have shuffled through them a ton. Great collection of photos that really displays the band's career well. There were a few cards I looked at that I couldn't help but say "wow" out loud in reaction to they were so nice. High def pics, too. Good cards. Merry Christmas everyone!
