Doe on February 24, 2013, 02:37:10 PM There's only one version of "Surfin'" - the track on the first Capitol album is sped up a tad and re-eqd, but it's the same recording as the Candix & X singles.
"Male Ego" was released on the CD version of the 1985 album. Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Sheriff John Stone on February 24, 2013, 03:45:36 PM I thought I read an interview where Brian mentioned singing on a Spanish version of "Kokomo". Is there such a release?
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: AndrewHickey on February 24, 2013, 03:46:22 PM There's various live odds and ends -- Back In The USSR and a couple of others from the mid-80s, the Songs From Here & Back CD, the songs on the iTunes-only EP from last year.
Barbie from the California Dream Barbie Fun Fun Fun with Status Quo Here Comes The Night (extra-extended edit with bits of California Girls, Rhonda and so on -- can't remember what this was called) Kokomo (Spanish version) Are you counting Ultimate Christmas, Hawthorne, the GV box, and Endless Harmony as "the officially released albums"? If not, all those and the twofers have *loads* of extra ones. We Got Love (studio) -- does that count as 'officially released'? Sea Cruise All I Want To Do (live) A lot more, as well... Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: EgoHanger1966 on February 24, 2013, 03:48:58 PM I thought I read an interview where Brian mentioned singing on a Spanish version of "Kokomo". You can hear Brian in the stack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYGw46nJXdA Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Sheriff John Stone on February 24, 2013, 03:56:22 PM I thought I read an interview where Brian mentioned singing on a Spanish version of "Kokomo". Controversial even in its obscurity.... Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: runnersdialzero on February 24, 2013, 04:03:33 PM "Male Ego" was released on the CD version of the 1985 album. Technically a CD bonus track, right? Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: The Shift on February 24, 2013, 04:11:06 PM Isn't It Time single version and instrumental
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: joshferrell on February 24, 2013, 04:28:46 PM "Howdi from maui", "Crockodile rock."
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: NatureShowInStereo on February 24, 2013, 11:13:09 PM Is this all just stuff that's been "officially" released? Or does this list include stuff on bootlegs, as well? I would love to see a completed list that includes both. You know, like a list of all the non-albums tracks that are.... 'Available' to us if we really wanted them.
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on February 25, 2013, 08:19:27 AM Stuff that was officially released, Eitehr to the public or through a promo, but not things like 2-fer bonus tracks etc.
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Andrew G. Doe on February 25, 2013, 08:59:24 AM "Wouldn't It Be Nice" (live at Big Sur)

What did I miss? Stuff that was officially released, Eitehr to the public or through a promo, but not things like 2-fer bonus tracks etc. I guess I don't understand what you mean by this, then. I presume you mean they have to be on an album( LP/CD?) and not a 45/ 12"single/CD single ?? but: The Lord's Prayer, You're Welcome, Blue Birds... [Percussion Overdub Version], Celebrate the News,Ganz Allien, and Cottonfields [Single Mix] were on the BBs Rarities San Miguel and Sea Cruise were on Ten Years of Harmony Rock 'n' Roll To The Rescue (and all other mixes?) were on a released 12" single ( so does that count or not?) Weren't some others like It's A Beautiful Day, Chasing The Sky, etc releaased on Soundtrack LPs? that makes them official , or not? Back In the USSR/Come Go With Me/Surfer Girl/Barbara Ann/Happy Birthday America [Live]-- aren't some of these on 4th of July? I'm sure there's more, but I'd have to check instead of reeling them off... And as Paulos quoted, do V/A albums count? Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on February 25, 2013, 10:28:27 AM Okay, to clear things up...
I mean tracks released officially that aren't on the standard 30 something Studio/Live albums released by the band that are classified as the album catalogue - albums like Surfin' Safari, Concert, Today!, Live In London, Keepin' the Summer Alive etc. Bonus tracks on the Two-Fers are ignored, as are the bonues tracks on the Box Sets such as the GV one EXCEPT things like San Miguel, released on Ten years... - D'you know what I mean? It makes sense to me ;D Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Mikie on February 25, 2013, 10:37:52 AM So........is this one more variation on a thread that's been done to death already?
Like Runaway from the Sunkist Good Vibrations album? Do I win? Will the judges take dat? Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on February 25, 2013, 10:40:45 AM So........is this one more variation on a thread that's been done to death already? Like Runaway from the Sunkist Good Vibrations album? Do I win? Will the judges take dat? Yes, but that's already on the list! And hey, at least it's partially useful to have around, unlike some topics that appear from time to time... Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Andrew G. In the discog section of 10452, if a single side is underlined, it's not on a regular release non-comp album. Odd tracks on non-BB albums are listed in the Odds & Ends section. So yes, a fine idea when I came up with it back in late 2001. ;D Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on February 25, 2013, 10:55:00 AM "Wouldn't It Be Nice" (live at Big Sur) Year? Is there such a release? It's the last track of side 2 of Still Cruisin' vinyl LP (mine's an Oz pressing). Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Mikie on February 25, 2013, 01:44:00 PM The Spanish version of Kokomo is on the flip side of the California Dreamin' 7" single (Germany) that came out in 1989.
It's also on a 3-song mini CD (Germany) with California Dreamin' and Wipeout (Fat Boys). Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on February 25, 2013, 01:58:34 PM Did the Spanish version actually get released in Spain?
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: shelter on February 25, 2013, 02:38:34 PM I made this list a while ago. I'm sure it's incomplete and full of errors and inconsistencies, but see what you can do with it.

Much appreciated.
Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: rogerlancelot on February 25, 2013, 06:49:51 PM Nice work, Shelter!
While we're here, can anybody honestly defend this one: The Baker Man (Brian Wilson) lead: Brian Wilson - recorded: March 1963 I know there is a story behind this one (probably recorded quickly and as a demo intended for another artist) but Brian actually wrote this W&M? Ouch! I can't think of anything really nice to say about it. But I'll try: - The drumming is adequate - It features a Brian Wilson lead vocal - It isn't a disco remake of an earlier original song I'm running out of ideas. Anyone? Title: Re: Complete Non-Album tracklist Post by: Andrew G. Doe on February 25, 2013, 11:47:00 PM The inclusion of pretty much the entire Smile Sessions[/i] big box is utterly pointless given that as works in progress there was never any chance of it being released anywhere else, much less as part of a studio album.
