Title: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Lonelysea30 on January 04, 2013, 10:24:29 PM Enjoying a gathering and in comes a Brian fan my age...it's rare to find, so u gotta get in the info while u can. I really don't think there anything better than a nice glass of scotch and the beach boys followed by good company. Anyone, I.feel educated in music, has an appreciation of that man... knows good music.. we talked all albums..was great knowing a fan my age in a young crowd.
Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Slow In Brain on January 05, 2013, 12:47:08 PM I have had similar experiences... Though mostly when I go out for a few drinks the crowds are younger than I. When the topics fall onto music that you are into, it always floors me how many know about and appreciate BW and BBs...
Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Pinder's Gone To Kokomo And Back Again on January 05, 2013, 04:56:30 PM Brian fans are a dime a dozen these days.... Beach Boys fans are still a rarity....
...... Please don't shoot me in the back as I'm running away >:D Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Shady on January 05, 2013, 05:22:44 PM Always great when you run into a fellow Brian/BB fan ;D
It's happened to me quite a bit on nights out and usually then end up laughing about how passionate I get talking about The Beach Boys. That happens when I have a few few drinks in me and you get me talking about music. I had to ask people to stop buying me drinks.

I should really delete my reply after reading this :) Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: EgoHanger1966 on January 05, 2013, 06:18:32 PM Always great when you run into a fellow Brian/BB fan ;D It's happened to me quite a bit on nights out and usually then end up laughing about how passionate I get talking about The Beach Boys. That happens when I have a few few drinks in me and you get me talking about music. I do this too, only with people who don't know about Pet Sounds/SMiLE/beyond. It's a lot of fun to play "Our Prayer" and preface it by saying "This is what happens when you mix The Beach Boys and acid" (not accurate I know, but makes for a fun conversation!) Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Lonelysea30 on January 05, 2013, 07:51:43 PM Yea, I like to have a nice scotch and put on bw albums..but I must say they are catching on more to younger people these days. Finally Brian getting his respect with others and not just us die hards
Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Lonelysea30 on January 05, 2013, 07:55:01 PM Also I feel that if people new there story and how square they were not, a lot of people would change. By rock standards these guys were crazy bastards. Not so wholesome at all. Lol
Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Shady on January 05, 2013, 10:14:08 PM The Beach Boys story (Brian's in particular) is the greatest Rock n Roll story of all time, it draws you in like a film and the music is the soundtrack.
No wonder the Brian scenes in Walk Hard were the best. Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: ♩♬🐸 Billy C ♯♫♩🐇 on January 06, 2013, 11:47:23 AM Best surprise was back during my college days, I was producing a local hip hop group, and Sunflower was one of the cds they brought with them to possibly sample. Sadly, we ended up using a non-BB song to sample on the finished cut, but somewhere on an ADAT tape is a sample of the opening of 'All I Wanna Do' chopped and screwed with someone rapping over the top.
Title: Re: hard to find brian in the crowd Post by: Freddie French-Pounce on January 06, 2013, 12:17:54 PM I went to see a Who tribute band at the local pub with my dad a couple of months ago now, and I noticed the guitarist (Pete Townshend's dupe) had a Brian Wilson present SMiLE T-Shirt on - speaking to him afterwards he'd seen the show on the first night!
