Picture of the reunited Beach Boys but I guess it will be the Mike&Bruce-show, right?

Thanks to Mark A. Moore for posting this on Facebook

The reunion promo's are still circulating out there for events. Shameful the Mike&Bruce camp don't make it explicitly clear that their tour is a completely different entity.

Edit: on the other hand if there really was a reunion christmas gig, I certainly wouldn't mind hearing them do Little Saint Nick live or hear Al rock to 'I Saw Santa (Rockin' Round The Christmas Tree)' while Brian belches out funky moog onstage.

AGD induced edit: Pardon me for blaming this on M&B but I guess I can't help myself. Should the world be engulfed in fire on Dec. 21 I would still probably spend my last breaths blaming M&B.

It's not M&B's fault that a local promoter is either dumb or trying to pull a fast one. When this happened back in the summer, they pulled the entire gig (Nutty Jerry's). Chances are they weren't aware of this until recently, and will take action.

Edit: I've been told the Bowl people were provided with the correct - i.e. Mike & Bruce - photos. Someone isn't at all thrilled about this.

So, as regards this observation - "Shameful the Mike&Bruce camp don't make it explicitly clear that their tour is a completely different entity." - they did, and cannot be held responsible when someone elects to dispense with the promo material supplied and use totally misleading photos. Personally, I think it's shameful that people who post on this board jumped to the wrong conclusion. I thought better of them.

When Mike put out a press release making it explicitly clear that his tour is completely different from the reunion tour, there was weeks of screaming about how he'd 'fired' Brian, Al and Dave and how putting out a press release about it was completely the wrong thing to do.

In the main by monumentally stupid people who didn't - or quite possibly couldn't - read the original press release properly... or took their cues from 2nd and 3rd hand articles on the 'net.

That's good to know.

I was wondering what those slackers were up to. Good to hear they got off their asses and plan to uphold the legacy.

Personally I don't think it is upholding their legacy, playing some random football game on the same bill as Bad Company.

IMO it's just reverting everything they accomplished with the C50 tour. But let's not go down that road, we beat that horse to death... a few times.

It is good to see Mike and Bruce out and about, all the BB's are having a nice rest following a crazy 2012.

There's a very tiny bit of irony in that one item in the list of supposed/alleged offenses from Al's "Beach Boys Family and Friends" band back in 1999/2000 was that promoters and agents and venues were incorrectly advertising the band as "The Beach Boys", and I remember how even though it is true that the artist cannot control what the promoter does, the "it's the promoters' fault" argument didn't hold much water back then. Certainly that was not the main crux of the case against Al using the "BBFF" name, but it is a funny bit of irony that a similar (though not the same) thing has happened with a couple of Mike's post-reunion shows.

I think, and I stand to be corrected, that the main bone of contention was Alan using the actual phrase "Beach Boys" as part of the band name, rather than promoters misrepresenting.

Mr. Doe,

Are you employed by Mike Love in any capacity?

Yes, true. As I specifically mentioned above, the inaccurate billing of shows and whatnot was not the main crux of the legal wrangling. It's simply a little bit of irony. I do believe the inaccurate billing of some of Al's shows was cited in some of the legal documents as additional evidence/background, etc. for the case. It definitely did happen, and was not Al's fault just as it's not Mike's fault now. Even after Al dropped "Beach Boys" from his band's title, I saw one show in my area inaccurately billed as the "Beach Boys" when it was in fact "Al Jardine Family & Friends Beach Band." Promoters do crazy things, and/or have really short attention spans apparently.

The simple point was that Al was not afforded any sort of "it's not his fault" benefit of the doubt from "Mike supporters" back then when shows were advertised in a misleading fashion. And yes, there were (and are) "Mike supporters" insofar as we're going to label any group of similarly-minded fans.

It will be like the end of Raiders Of The Lost Ark times a million

The only thing left of the human race will be Bruce's white shorts floating through space for eternity.

It is attrocious isn't it?
Are they all wearing tanning cream so that they appear more like 'The Beachy Beach Boys'?

I imagine Bruce saying onstage:
"Hey folks, the reason we are so tanned is because we drove directly from the beach, where we always hang out and have endless parties like the one we had in the film c*cktail with Tom Cruise, if any of you remember?'
Crowd mutters in agreement.

You forgot to mention that Brian's lawyers compelled him to do so.  Damned it he does, damned if he doesn't.

Do you feel the same about Brian and Al?  Personally all of these men are musicians, if they want to make music somewhere I see nothing wrong with it.  And what's wrong with Bad Company?  LOL

Yeah I read an article about that, Mitt goes to great lengths to NOT get tan while he's out at the beach so that he can wear fake tanning cream on stage.

Mike, Bruce, Scotty, and John.   Three of the front lineup and the drummer/vocalist from the C50 tour.   No longer JUST the Mike/Bruce band  :)  Concert goers will get to see a substantial portion of the key members of the C50m tour band..IMHO.

Hey, the glass is HALF FULL!
