Title: Pat Boone's finest moment ? Post by: Andrew G. Doe on November 24, 2012, 04:08:15 AM Just lashing together a Bruce & Terry 1962-66 compilation (someone asked for the best of the non-BB/J&D stuff) and damn, but I'd forgotten what an excellent release Pat Boone's "Beach Girl" was. Also the B&T 1965-66 singles. Oh to have been in the southland then...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyrlPQ4xzx8 There is actually more Bruce & Terry on this record than Wayne! He wasn't too pleased with the thing in the first place, and when it started getting airplay and attention, he asked Capitol to pull the plug on promotion - he was also afraid about how in the hell he would perform it live. Shame, this is one of his best records. Title: Re: Pat Boone's finest moment ? Post by: KittyKat on November 24, 2012, 11:31:52 AM Don't forget Pat Boone's version of Brian's "Little Honda":

Title: Re: Pat Boone's finest moment ? Post by: Moon Dawg on November 24, 2012, 02:05:11 PM "Moody River" was the best Pat Boone record IMO.
Pat's version of "Ain't That A Shame" impressive in its way - loud, booming, powerful - but it does not rock or roll. Title: Re: Pat Boone's finest moment ? Post by: RangeRoverA1 on October 31, 2013, 04:02:54 AM Don't forget Pat Boone's version of Brian's "Little Honda": The best thing posted here, very groovy! Both Pat's way of singing & the drums reminded me of African music traditions, what tribes would usually do in their holidays. Beach Girl sounds nearly the same, except for the intro & Pat's vocs, most obviously. In other words, it again remains one of my least faves, since I wasn't a fan of The Rip Chords' cover before, either. For non-BBs/surf/beach-related stuff, I can only name "Speedy Gonzales". Of 2 versions - with girl's & boy's spoken bits - I dig the former, the one where the word "tequila" goes like exclamation & melody is sung in a lower key. But either way, it is a very catchy & uplifting song - "finest moment", for sure.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGgfszGyg2Q (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGgfszGyg2Q) Title: Re: Pat Boone's finest moment ?
