Nice list but I usually won't spend more than a buck or two on a VG record - I saw more than a handful there. Unless whoever graded them was being conservative.

You may do that. Or you could refrain from doing so until you've purchased an impressive pile of LPs for peanuts - which is something special for a fan and collector (a group of people this board is for) and which warrants a thread. Why detain somebody from sharing their excitement about something we're all here for  - the BBs music and related subjects?

Assuming your Carl record is only G+ like the seller says, it's good for a frisbee and not much else! POB in VG+ is a nice find though.

Just casting a vote in favor of the OP. I certainly agree that it would be overkill, and highly annoying, if folks were to start a thread for every miniscule BB-related happening in their lives. But hey, this was an amazing haul. I'm happy for FOTM - congrats man. I'd post about it too. :)

What a great deal. Where did you get your haul? Online? I always want to find records in person, not online, but I have trouble finding any thing great in my area.

I'm glad you posted. If we can't share our nerdy excitement over some lucky find/deal here, where else are we to turn to? Not enough of my facebook friends give enough of a sh*t for me post something like that there (which actually doesn't stop me from posting endless Beach Boys links).

That was a pretty good collection of '70s and 80s BB LPs. It's kind of sad someone is parting with it. I wonder what happened. Are they dead? Do they no longer like the BBs? Are they moving onto CDs or mp3s only? Are they so broke they have to sell their possessions? (These are rhetorical questions if that's not obvious...)

I love these kind of threads. Must admit I never buy anything marked less than Excellent these days though as VG+ stuff I have bought has been noisy as hell. Hope the grading is generous.

Yeah me too, but not even EX records are trouble free. The one that bugs me is inner groove distortion. I bought 20/20 recently at a record fair. It looked fantastic and plays really quietly but get to the end of side 1 and Nearest faraway Place has that subtle distortion on the high notes. It drives me nuts. I guess that's vinyl for you.

That can be a problem on even the mintest of records. I've cracked open sealed records that sound worse than VG records found at a flea market! That's part of the mystique of vinyl, I guess.

Yep I agree, I've bought new sealed lps and had these problems. I guess it depends on the pressing and your set up to a certain extent, but I've resigned myself to the fact that, on some records, inner groove distortion is unavoidable. Half the problem is tuning your ear to it. Once you can hear it, you hear it all over the place. I spent ages getting stressed out that my copy of the CATP/Pet Sounds twofer had distortion issues. Then I listened to the cd one day and heard distortion on that! That's when I knew I'd really gone round the bend!

eBay, the guy got them at an estate sale, and I love the sound of any vinyl, the H&V single mix shows why, crunchy and cracky!

Vinyl everytime for me - I wasn't a fan of It's O.K. til I played the 7" (UK version isn't sped up), that Bass Drum adds so much body it's untrue!

This came today, even more then I expected! Lots of great stuff, Holland and The Beach Boys '85 are FLAWLESS. Those two albums really require vinyl to fully enjoy, they're SO MUCH better.
