Title: the New Stereo Extraction Mixes on the 2012 Remasters
Post by: branaa09 on October 28, 2012, 05:46:29 PM
I know that Gerry Fitzgerald did the new Stereo Extraction Mix for Good Vibrations but who did the rest? Was it Gerry, Mark or Dennis Wolfe?

Just wondering because I haven't been able to find the remasters yet at any store here in my town.  :(

Derry's been doing these mixes for, oh maybe four-five years and sent me an early version of "GV", which I suggested he should pass on to Mark. The rest you know.

Someone should interview him.

Standards are falling.

I could of seen this coming.

runners probably spelt it that way on purpose is my guess.

The likelihood of runners saying anything in a standardised manner is very slim

lawl, yes, "accordian" was very intentional. Don't give up quite yet, Mr.Don.

Hoping this means he's been given the resources to do other tracks and they're waiting around to be released. Hopefully soon. ^_^

That interview is cool, but I would love to see more of him playing soloed out extracted parts and maybe some more about what he does.

If anyone wants to know I did some digging and found this!

It was absolutely hilarious seeing a story on Good Vibrations being mixed in stereo make the RTE news over here in Ireland.

Basically everyone in Ireland watches the Six O'Clock news. Even though Derry is Irish about a million people were probably scratching their heads going "who cares"?

Worked great for me!  Nice that he got his name on a BBs CD, for doing something special.

I asked this in the other thread, but it didn’t get answered: Did Derry actually MIX the extraction mixes or just extract the elements and then hand those over to Linett? It looks as if he did the actual mixing as well, but it doesn't seem entirely clear to me. If he did indeed do the mixing, does anyone have any insight as to why he was chosen to do so rather than having it done by the guy who's been doing the band's work for the last 25 years? Just curious.

It says they were done under Mark's supervision. I'd imagine that means he and Mark traded files until Mark got a mix from him that he was happy with. As for why Mark didn't do it, maybe he felt like Derry had more of a grasp on how to mix with the files he extracted given that he extracted them himself, as I'm sure there are good and bad ways to mix the files in the way of revealing artifacts etc. and maybe Mark isn't as familiar with dealing with this sort of thing. Just a guess.
