Title: What A Wonderful World covered by The Beach Boys? Post by: Cabinessenceking on October 07, 2012, 01:59:34 PM I was listening to a few Beach Boys fragments and I came across a (heavily) corrupted file of what was stated as 'What A Wonderful World' (by Bob Thiele and George Weiss, first recorded by the great Louis Armstrong) in aweful quality, but distinctly great harmonies and an unknown lead, perhaps Dennis or Brian?
Does anyone know more about it? Is it legit? To make it more relevant: could it see a release on the upcoming box? Title: Re: What A Wonderful World covered by The Beach Boys? Post by: Ray Lawlor on October 07, 2012, 03:48:46 PM Hi; maybe I can clear up the origin of this track. it was recorded, by Brian , for Melinda , so they could have their first dance to it at their wedding ,as it was their favorite song at the time. I love this recording, but then this is probably the most beautiful song ever written so of course an orchestral/wall of harmonies arrangement would be wonderful. I think Brian is trying to sound a bit like Louis on this , but that is just a guess on my part....I love the song as well; the Brian background vocals are great in my opinion, and Van's orchestration is spot on. I understand those that don't resonate with the lead vocal; some people really like the "Orange Crate Art" era vocals and some don't. Glad you like it !
