Title: Jan & Dean Stereo and Mono Album Mixes Post by: positivemusic on October 06, 2012, 04:53:14 PM I tried over at the Jan & Dean board, but didn't get any help with this.
Does anyone know if their albums, specifically Folk'n'Roll were mixed differently or if the mono is basically a stereo fold down? Its one of my favorites, but I find it unlistenable on headphones due to the "visual stereo." I was going to use music editing software to do a fold down, but only if it represents how the original album in mono would've sounded. Thanks so much for any help! Fold downs became more prevalent in the latter end of the 60s, when mono albums were no longer issued but there was a need for mono singles.

I know most Jan & dean albums have entirely different mono/stereo mixes, sometimes with different edits, instruments, and parts. My turntable is crapped out right now, so I can't do an A/B test.
