Title: iPod/iTunes question Post by: Susan on April 20, 2006, 08:02:38 AM I recently bought an iPod and i'm loading my music into the little sucker just as quickly as i can. But iTunes seems to take a lot of power from my full old memory. I would like to dump the Library - but i do NOT want the iPod to "update" itself using the empty library and wipe out the 700 songs i've already imported! So...HELP!!! How can i dump the library without wiping out the device's harddrive? Anybody?
Title: Re: iPod/iTunes question Post by: Jonas on April 20, 2006, 08:11:02 AM There is an option in Itunes not to automatically updated everytime you connect. I don't know where specifically, you'll have to look for it...unless someone else here knows how.
Sorry I'm no help. :p Title: Re: iPod/iTunes question Post by: Susan on April 20, 2006, 09:12:27 AM I know - and i THINK i checked it when i set it up...but i don't want to find out the hard way that i'm wrong - and the iTunes program doesn't seem to have that option in an obvious place.
At least you tried, Am...thanks. Title: Re: iPod/iTunes question Post by: Jonas on April 20, 2006, 09:19:29 AM BTW, I got your message. Thank you very much. Your thoughts put a smile on my face. :)
:hug Title: Re: iPod/iTunes question Post by: Susan on April 20, 2006, 09:20:17 AM Er....never mind. It's in...preferences...right where it belongs...
And i'm glad to know i could make you smile! ;-) Title: Re: iPod/iTunes question Post by: PeteS on April 27, 2006, 01:42:37 PM On a Mac its - Prefernces, iPod, then check manually manage songs and playlists - then iTunes will only copy to the iPod anything you drag you to the iPod icon. It won't delete anything from the iPod until you do, by selecting the item in the iPod list and clearing it. It's a good option to use if, like me, your music library is spread over several computers.....
