A bit off topic, but I am the only one who just hates the term "digital single"? I can see how a collection of songs can be a digital album, but I think it's just silly when bands say that they've "released a digital single". No you didn't, you've uploaded a song, that's all.

Ripoff.

It's the same thing as an unknown band pressing a 45 back in the day and getting it sold through a limited amount of stores. They both cost money to do. At the end of the day it's all about promotion. Some "digital singles" sell millions and millions of copies. That's pretty legit, I'd say.

Back OT.. I wonder who Charles Tapp is. Maybe he owns the rights to the movie? Looks like a bunch of people bought the single based on the "listeners also bought" list.

That's the only live version of that song from that year, so I'd guess so.

It's exactly that version, and by the quality of the audio preview I'd say it's simply ripped from the DVD of the film - sounds awful to my ears.  Shame no-one's had the right kind of access to the original to do some proper remastering etc.

Yeah, but there's no way denying that a physical 45 is in fact a single. But what's the difference between simply making a song available for download and "releasing a digital single"?

You could sell a digital single on your own website. But it depends on who you are and how well it's promoted. If you're already famous you can kinda get away with that.

Otherwise it's like buying the 45 at the singer in the band's Mom's house vs. buying it at Tower Records or something. iTunes, Amazon, etc.. are all digital "stores".

"Digital single" is fine. When people start saying "digital vinyl" or "digital 45" (iTunes releases use these terms), I want to turn into a real life hammer brother and start throwing hammers at these people. And Apple employees.

It took a lot of thought to pick exactly that combination of fonts, you know. They were going to go with Impact, Courier Old, and System but the brainbox responsible for this had a sudden "stop the presses!" bit of inspiration and changed it to the above configuration.

c'mon this is driving me crazy. every time i hear Surfin USA i yell out "you tell her" either aloud or in my head. where did i hear this??!!!

I'm the same with the line "We can't wait for June"… always hear someone rapping "So we'll leave her behind!" straight after. But I know I made it up in my head decades ago…

Haha, and I thought it was only me! :-D Well, actually I don't hear someone saying that, but when I listen to that line I always instantly picture a girl with a surf board running after a woodie waving her hand.

BTW, not that this would be interesting to you, but I actually learned to surf last month. Very enjoyable vacation. 8)
