I don't have/use it, but any tweet that has the hashtag #shortninbread will be coming from Brian.

"Dear Mike have you ever considered rapping again as u have mad flow on Summer Of Love #beachboys'

Also, Gertie, Brian had absolutely no involvement in Summer In Paradise at all. Unless they played the title track at the few shows during the 90's Brian was present for (weren't there a few during the S&S era), he's probably never heard any at all from it. Why would he? It's garbage.

Love You was almost entirely his baby, though. Summer In Paradise was Mike's, and Brian is absolutely nowhere on the album. It was a confusing time for Mr.Wilson personally, too. It wouldn't shock me if Brian didn't know what Summer In Paradise was until played "Summer Of Love" or told "It was the 1992 album you had nothing to do with that John Stamos was on" or something.

It would be great if some of you could ask about "Love you" and especially about the recording process and the involvement of Al, Mike and Bruce and their opinion on the album.

Also some questions about the Desper years and P.O.B. plus it's recent success would be great also

Bruce once literally walked out of an interview at the mere mention of Love You. Might wanna leave him out of it when asking - he's barely on it, anyway.

lawl, I don't particularly care if he walks out, but who knows. I'm sure it'll be like typical online chats with the technologically inept - 9 million questions get asked, a guy is sitting at the computer and asks select questions to the guys in the band.

If Bruce will walk out on a live interview at the mere mention of "My friend really likes the Love You album", not too far a stretch to imagine him doing so here. Not saying we shouldn't offend good ol' Bruce, just saying it might happen.

Well, maybe.
I don't think it'll be that much of an interesting interview to us fans. I guess it'll turn out to be all questions about "How does it feel to be back together?""Will there be another tour/album?""How did it feel in the studio recording for the first time in so and so many years together?""Do you still surf?""How does it feel to have the videos od Dennis and Carl in the show?" etc. I'd be surprised - and delighted - if there'll be some really good questions that maybe will turn to giving us some interesting answers from the boys.

Considerng they'll likely be flooded with n00b questions from blueboarders and such, folks around here should carefully choose what they go for.

In other words, we must all counter-flood with questions about a new album and Summer In Paradise.

Title: Re: Twitter with The Beach Boys
Post by: runnersdialzero on September 18, 2012, 08:38:19 AM
As amusing as it'd be to bring up SIP over and over again, there's a very sincere element to my wanting to hear about it. I'm wondering whose goofy-ass idea was it to opt to try to bury something that, whether you like it or not, is part of your history regardless of it being terrible or not and regardless of whose baby it was. I doubt it was Brian, Mike, Al, Bruce, or David's idea.

IIRC, it pops up during the 50th slideshow things along with the rest of their albums. And M&B did play the title tune well into the 00's. I honestly think Mike loves it. Bruce either hates it because it lost them money or thinks it's on a par with Sunflower or a similar forgotten 'classic', although he doesn't mention it often if it all. I think Al hates it (adam_ghost could testify) and I don't suppose David would care.

Bruce very recently said he likes it. I have to imagine Brian is, at the very worst, indifferent to it. I've rarely heard him express a substantial amount of disgust for anything other than some of his own work, only praising things he loves, which says a lot about his character.

Interesting/amusing that Al hates it, although him being kind of a folkie d00d, I can see why.

Al hates it because he almost got kicked out of the band around that time. Mike "Kokomo" Love of 1992 was hard to deal with.

How about asking them about recording processes or songs of certain albums? Wild Honey, Love You, Sunflower, So Tough (would be cool to hear Brian, Mike and Al talk about "Marcella").
Or about Dennis' work (and the big - commercial - success of the P.O.B. re-issue), what they remember about working with Desper, which was probably their most creative era, and if they'd agree that Carl was the guy who held everything together which was quite obvious to feel when after his death the band broke up.

I think the way I remember Adam telling it is, when they had Al guesting on a show of theirs, Mr Clean noticed Hot Fun In The Summertime on the setlist. He asked 'You're not doing our version of that, are you?' To which Adam replied 'No'. 'Good', sez Jardine.

How about asking Brian how his method of producing is different from than it was in the 60s?  Maybe that can set things straight with all the speculations of how much Brian is really involved.

It's worth noting he said that in the infamous "lol Europe sucks" interview, after which he admitted he was putting the interviewer on. So was he just saying he liked SIP to surprise the guy, or was he sincere? Who knows.

@TheBeachBoys sends them the message, the hashtag just trends it. You're question is pretty good, but I doubt it gets answered. That's the bad thing about stuff like this, they want to keep it light and fun so they'll just answer the same questions they've been answering their whole careers.

Kind of funny to read about these pranks on Carl, though.

Bruno Mars?  wtf???

Bruce has mentioned his name quite a bit during interviews (just like he once did with the Jones Bros.) so I guess he really likes him

Honestly, what is the moron who asked that question really going to do with the answer he/she gets?  What's so special about having the Beach Boys answer that question that no one else in the world couldn't answer?

I gotta stop following this thread.... :-\

Bruce: "It was an amazing experience!"

Just gathering the "favourite song / album" answers:

Brian - "California Girls" / 15 Big Ones
Michael - "Good Vibrations" / Concert
Alan - "Their Hearts Were Full of Spring" (huh) / Summer Days
Historical - "The Warmth of the Sun" / Sunflower
David - "God Only Knows" / Surfin' USA

Mike specified that he was talking about the '64 album, not the '74 double. That all-important "in."

The Twitfest has concluded. About the most revealing thing in it was that Bruce is still apparently a little steamed that his photo was shot for the Wild Honey cover and he ended up on the back because of Brian's window, so he had to wait until Friends to get on the front cover. (And indeed, didn't get in a photo on the front until 20/20.)

I asked Brian what his fave Twilight Zone episode was but he answered not. Selah, as Nick Tosches would say.

You mean you didn't see stuff like:

#Beachboys what are your favorite foods?
#BeachBoys why did you choose John Stamos to play with you sometimes?

My eight unanswered questions.

Brian, this was the 1st time you produced a Beach Boys album since 77. Has your production technique changed since?
Dave, Brian and Al, with the success of the tour, why not continue with Mike and Bruce in the coming live shows?
Will there be a concert film documenting the 50th Anniversary tour? (You guys might say that's redundant but nothing has been set in stone)
Would you ever consider making a documentary series in the way the Beatles did the Anthology?
Will the Hawaii 1967 concert ever see release on CD or other form?
One of the highlights of this tour and album was Jeff Foskett. Would you ever make him a full member of the band?
Brian, any interesting solo projects coming up? (I know but I was desperate for answers)
Brian, will you work with Van Dyke Parks again? I loved the Orange Crate Art album. And Smile too of course.

I feel so rejected!

The boys answered my question last night - mine was the one about pranks! I figured that it was something different, so hoped it would get picked and it did! I had a smile about as wide as my face when I saw they had replied! It was great to know some information that I had never seen before and I hope that you thought this was a good one to ask.

In response to the post about the new t shirt, I REALLY love the girl version of that but it's not on the UK store yet. The UK one is awful. I hope it's at the gig next week so I can get one.

Pretty sure that's what I typed ;) But yeah, the titles are sometimes a pain.

A rather sorry affair really, but then again what did we expect? The guys clearly are at a phase where they don't want to be pushed any more (at least in interviews or Q&A's) and that sits ... relatively ok by me (I guess).
