Title: 1990 Twofers Compared To 2001 Ones
Post by: The Heartical Don on September 05, 2012, 12:33:33 AM
Is there anyone here who owns both series, or at least did a close listening comparison of these?

I read several, sometimes conflicting verdicts, and am pretty curious on this.

Tks in advance, THD.

The 1990 masters have some NR and at times sound somewhat muffled. The 2001 two-fers for the 1962-1969 catalog are very bright and kinda compressed. The albums after and including Sunflower are quieter and have better EQ.

There was a thread on this a month or so ago. The 1990 Old Man River is much better.

Those two, along with every other Reprise/Caribou release weren't part of the 1990 2-fers.

That I know...was referring to the 90 twofers in general.
