Title: Wild Honey?
Post by: FatherOfTheMan Sr101 on August 27, 2012, 01:34:15 PM
After receiving a few Emails, I was looking around for a certain video on YouTube and stumbled upon this:

Is this legit?

Doesn't sound legit, plus I don't berieve a stereo Wild Honey is planned for release that we know of (desite being aware a stereo mix was done some time ago).

It's Duophonic - Immediate giver-awayer

Sounds like a crude millisecond channel offset, definitely not legit.

There is a fan made stereo Smile Smile & Wild Honey which attempts at making them complete stereo albums. Most the SS tracks are already real stereo (i think its called Smiley Smile True Stereo) and many WH are real stereo, but some like this one, I'd Love Just Once To See You, Country Air and some others are fake stereo, this song is from that fan mix. I have it in my possession.

Def. not legit. However, whoever did it took the length to mock up what a Wild Honey remaster would look like with the current packaging.

Stereo mix of "Country Air" is on SOT's All This Is That.

This sounds really great. The up loader on youtube needs to post more

I'm pretty certain we won't be getting an official stereo mix of "Wild Honey" anytime soon so this would suffice

Duophonic. And soooo inferior to mono. :/

I don't believe that it's really stereo, but it is undeniably cleaner than the two-fer version that I'm familiar with... Are there bootleg stems out there or cleaner mixes that I'm unaware of?

I've just listened to this with headphones.  It's not the duophonic version.  That version has lop-sided EQ, with all the bass in one channel and treble with the other.  This doesn't.  It seems to be a fake stereo created with time-delay, perhaps on somebody's computer.  It does, as mentioned earlier, seem to have cleaner sound than what I'm used to hearing on the standard album.

Very sorry bout this, but to prove my point.

< link removed >

Please do NOT USE THIS AS SOURCE FOR STEREO SMILEY SMILE as it is vastly inferior in its mixing compared to the new 2012 stereo remix officially released. Wild Honey has a few real stereo tracks and a few duophonic, a good listening experience which could point towards how good a stereo release of this album could be.
Moderators plz just remove this post if it conflicts too much with the regulations.
